Description

Reporting to the Dean and a key member of the Hofstra Law leadership team, the Assistant/Associate Dean for Communications and Marketing is responsible for developing and implementing multi-channel strategic campaigns for the institution to improve brand awareness, increase applications, and foster a culture of giving, as well as to support the communications needs of all departments, centers, institutes, clinics and faculty scholarship. This position works closely with all Law School departments, especially enrollment management and external relations, and advises the Law School Dean and senior administrators on effective communication strategies for diverse constituents. The Assistant Dean is an innovator and an accomplished communications, marketing and public relations professional with progressive leadership experience in higher education, non-profit, or other comparable business areas.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Supervises and coordinates all the Law School's brand, marketing, public relations, publications, and website efforts.Works closely with the faculty and administration at the Law School and the University, outside public relations, marketing and printing firms, and media outlets to promote the law school and its programs.Oversees a team of full-time administrators and freelancers.Responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures for all areas of communications.Writes and/or edits articles, publication copy, speeches for the Dean, press releases, and other communications.Develops and communicates necessary messaging required for crisis and issues management.Works with outside marketing consultant to implement annual admission communications/email marketing campaigns to improve the law school's applicant pool for all law school programs, including JD, international LLM, online MA/LLM degrees and certificate programs, and the Paralegal Studies Certificate Program.Oversees the Law School Copy Center operations and in-house publications.Collaborates with departments and manages workflows and communications/marketing needs to support internal and external events.Develops and monitors budgets for advertising and select publications projects; analyzes and reviews budgetary and financial data; controls and authorizes expenditures in accordance with established limitations.Performs other related duties as assigned by the Dean.

QualificationsBachelor's degree required.Minimum of seven years of experience in marketing, public relations, and/or communications.Excellent supervisory and project management skills.Excellent written and verbal communication and editing abilities.Familiarity with social media marketing techniques as well as traditional communications methods.Minimum of three years demonstrated administrative responsibility.Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.Must be collaborative, organized, and detail oriented.

Preferred QualificationsAdvanced degree in related field preferred.Experience working in a higher education academic environment.Experience in web design.Experience with social media and web analytics.

Salary/Salary Range$120,000 - $130,000

Additional InformationHofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education. In addition to the salary offered, we offer a collegial and inclusive culture, and a benefits program which includes generous paid time off, paid holidays, tuition remission for employees and eligible dependents, and a retirement plan with University contributions.

*Salary ranges indicated for positions covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement are in accordance with the CBA.
