Library Media Specialist - High School Level200-Day Contract
Seeking qualified individual to provide library media specialist services at the high school level. Reports to and is evaluated by the Principal.
Length of employment is 200 days (10 months); contract renewable in accordance with School Board policy and the Code of Virginia.
Qualifications:Hold or be eligible for licensure (within 90 days of hire) in Virginia with appropriate endorsementDemonstrated understanding of standards-based curriculum, research-based instructional strategies, and effective assessment practicesAbility to effectively align and manage resources, time schedules, and operational procedures to maximize opportunities for studentsAbility to model and promote a culture of high expectations for student and staff performanceUnderstanding of continuous school improvement and Effective Schools researchAbility to disaggregate and use data to inform instructionDemonstrated leadership qualities and ability to work collaboratively with staff and administrators in the support of the school's literacy programExperience working with diverse populations, including students with disabilities, English language learners, students who live in poverty, and students who are giftedExcellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively with students to maximize opportunities for learning
