Responsibilities:The candidate will be responsible and accountable for approving well-fitting, properly constructed garments that maintain consistency across factoriesSpecializing in high-end dressesThe Technical Designer will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy of product measurements, quality, construction, and fitThe Senior Technical Design level in the organization needs to support growth within the companyMust be organized and able to independently prioritize workloadUtilize deep expertise and understanding of fit, patternmaking, grading, technical construction and fabricsCommunicate pattern corrections accurately and understand pattern making a mustEnter fit comments into Excel with product pictures/dates ensuring timely data entry according to brand calendars and deadlinesAdd/update construction detail sketches using Adobe Illustrator, Excel, or other systems as neededConfirm correct grade rules in the tech pack to produce compliant products for fit in each sizeMeasure garments accurately to identify any fit issues and execute fit comments efficiently to remain on schedule with productionParticipate in fit sessions, provide recommendations, note callouts, and log critiques to address all issues efficientlyApprove samples for production after a thorough evaluation of fit, measurement, hanger appeal, and functionalityProvide grading guidelines to vendors after fit approval to ensure quality consistency and collaborate with internal and external partners

Qualifications:10 ten + years of Technical Design experience in high-end dresses and gownsCollege degree, or equivalent professional work experience, requiredStrong knowledge of pattern making, grading, garment construction, sewing, technical drawing, measuring, and fittingProven expertise in apparel fitting, specs, and patternsProficient in Illustrator, Photoshop, PowerPoint, ExcelStrong project management and multi-tasking skills with critical attention to detailConfident, engaging verbal and written communication skillsStrong organizational skills and ability to manage competing prioritiesTeam player, problem solver with passion for product, organized and detail orientedAbility to work independently and work to meet multiple deadlinesAbility to build and maintain relationships with cross functional partners, vendors, and overseas offices

Benefits:

• $100,000 - $130,000 base salary (This range represents the low and high end of the anticipated base salary range for this NYC - based position. The base salary will depend on numerous factors such as: experience and qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to other AO employees.)
