CompensationHourly base pay rate is $28.08 - $42.12/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.

Job Description

The AJC's mission is to be the most essential and engaging source of news and information for the people of Atlanta, of Georgia and the South. To achieve that mission, we will transform ourselves from a storied daily newspaper into a modern media company. Where reporters, product ninjas, video/audio masters, digital gurus and many more are delivering work across diverse creative platforms, industries and borders.

To help us achieve this, we are seeking someone to join the platforms team to execute our day-to-day video strategy across AJC.com, the AJC mobile app and other platforms.

This person will work closely with the Platforms Editor and Video Lead, managing the distribution and placement of content from the video production team across all platforms. They will manage multiple players, ensuring that each video has maximum reach and engagement. They will also work to ensure that related videos are attached to popular articles on AJC.com.

This position will be a part of efforts to test, measure and iterate on a variety of strategies to build audience and increase engagement, with a strong emphasis on results and metrics-driven decision making.

While this position allows hybrid work, it will be based in metro Atlanta and the producer will be expected to be onsite in our Atlanta office regularly.

In this position you will:In partnership with the Platforms Lead - Video, execute daily plans for video presentation across the main site and mobile apps, with the goal of increasing engagement and CTRsPlace video during breaking news (during shift hours) on AJC.com homepage, video pages and article pagesShowcase our highest-value content and grow audience engagement with all of our productsWork with leaders to execute strategy for increasing engagement with video content on our platformsWork closely with the video production team, to ensure maximum engagement for their content

Qualifications:

What we expect you to have to be ready:Bachelor's degree preferably in a related fieldWith a BA, at least 2 years of experience as a digital producer in a fast-paced operational role. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and up to 2 years' experience; a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experience; or 6 years' experience in a related field without a degree.At least 2 years of experience in a video programming role in a fast-paced operational environmentExperience in managing news platforms to drive reader engagement and build brandExperience in journalism and strong news judgmentKnowledge on the most recent trends in digital videoAn ability to take and give constructive criticismPassion and belief in local, regional and statewide journalism and its role as a societal change agentFamiliarity and experience in using audience metrics to drive tactical as well as strategic decisions on video production and resource allocationUnderstanding of journalism standards and media ethicsReliable automobile transportation required.Reliable internet service for remote work environment required.Ability to work weekend and unusual hours as dictated by news events

Preferred Experience in one or more of the following:Newspapers, magazines, media, technology, or related fieldExperience working in a breaking news environmentSocial, interactive, or digital media

Education:Bachelor's degree preferably in journalism, product development, or related fieldDirect experience in a similar role may be substituted for education

Employees are eligible to receive a minimum of sixteen hours of paid time off every month and seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
