SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Coordinates and directs the activities of school library media support personnel including library media assistants, technical assistants, student assistants, and volunteers.Provides the leadership and instructional resources and services for implementation of a school library media program that serves as an integral part of a student-centered educational process.Plans and implements for teaching and learning by

Assessing learning and information needs of students and staffPlanning and working collaboratively with teachersInstructing students and staff in the effective use of ideas and informationIncorporating information literacy into day-to-day instructionAdvocating and promoting reading and lifelong learningLeading in the school's use of instructional technology to enhance learningUpgrading professional knowledge and skills on a continual basis

Plans and implements for information access, evaluation, and useLeads teachers, technology staff, and students in a collaborative process to select and evaluate resources that address curricular needs and learning goals of students and teachers in the information ageKeeps accurate inventories of print, non-print, technology materials, and equipmentImplements an ongoing collection development and evaluation processAdheres to copyright as well as other laws and guidelines pertaining to the distribution and use of resourcesAdvocates the principles of intellectual freedom and ethical behaviorPlanning and implementing for program administration by adhering to the standards in MS Librarian Evaluation.Provides technical support to teachers, maintains record for Accelerated Reading and Star Program.Evaluates the school library media program on a continual basis according to accepted standards of qualityOrganizes school library media facilities and resources in a manner that supports the mission, goals, and objectives of the school and maximizes intellectual and physical access to resources.Interacts effectively with students, staff, administration, and the general public to promote and expand the school library media program.Demonstrates professional integrity through ethical behaviorPrepares and submits accurate reports as requiredAdherence to the Mississippi Educator Code of Ethics/Standards of Conduct.Performs other duties as assigned by their supervisor or district administrators.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a valid Mississippi license with endorsement as librarian/media specialist (440).

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:1. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
