Democracy Now! seeks a skilled Camera Operator to ensure high-quality visual standards for our live TV news broadcast. The Camera Operator will work with the Production & Facilities Manager and Technical Director to ensure all camera shots meet broadcast standards and will facilitate guest and host appearances by managing microphone setups and providing floor direction during the live broadcast. The Camera Operator reports to the Production & Facilities Manager.

ResponsibilitiesShade and operate in-studio robotic & manual camerasMonitor and adjust blocking and framing for hosts and guests during live TV news broadcast.Act as floor manager for hosts and guests during live TV news broadcast.Monitor placement of studio set pieces.Assist with on set troubleshooting and diagnostics as needed.Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications2 years of experience as professional camera operator requiredStrong alignment with the mission of Democracy Now! preferredLive TV news or experience on live sets preferredExperience seating and putting microphones on guests preferredProfessional camera experience in a high-pressure environment requiredMust be a team player, have excellent verbal communication skills and maintain a professional demeanor under pressureAttention to visual detail and consistency requiredMust be available to work week shifts starting at 7:00 a.m. for the live daily TV & radio newscast at 8 a.m.

Compensation$52 per hour

Other InformationThis is an onsite, NYC-based role.This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between Democracy Now! and SAG-AFTRA.
