Northstar is a unique and highly successful non-profit school serving children in grades K-12 and through our Career Center. We promote educational excellence and career opportunities for students with disabilities who have academic, physical and social challenges.

Northstar is looking for a dynamic Marketing Coordinator who is responsible for the strategy, management, and execution of all marketing and communications efforts of the school. This position’s primary responsibility is for the development and implementation of marketing communications and materials as well as supporting the school’s special events, sponsorships, public relations, and social media.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

* Proactively pursue innovative and cost-effective strategies that will maximize public awareness and community engagement on behalf of Northstar Academy & Career Center across all target markets.

* Develop specific communication and outreach strategies for each target market

* Plan, implement and manage follow-up from all outreach activities

* Familiarity with website content management systems and website analytics preferred.

* Develop and maintain Northstar's public relations and community engagement calendar to meet the needs of all organizational departments and programs in alignment with the approved budget.

* Expand and maintain the school’s social media presence, produce print materials as needed, maintain the school’s website and create and distribute electronic and print communications.

* Actively engage with faculty and staff to encourage creative collaboration and mutual support.

* Use strategic communications to enhance engagement with alumni, parents, prospective families, donors, and other strategic constituent groups.

* Bring a high-energy presence to the school community.

* Attend school events, performances, athletic contests, vendor fairs, and activities as needed.

* Understand and appreciate the flexibility, varying perspectives and different work styles found in an independent school environment.

Other Duties and Skills: Excellent written and oral communications skills are a necessity for the position. The candidate should have initiative, be enthusiastic, outgoing, and have the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. In addition, the candidate should have:

Marketing or public relations experience preferred, ideally in an independent school or higher education setting.

Demonstrated ability to write, edit and proofread content in a variety of media channels.

Knowledge of graphic design and typography.

Social media, content creation and digital storytelling experience.

Familiarity with online marketing, including digital advertising and SEO.

Expertise in video production or project management.

Great interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.

Must be available to work flexible hours as this job, with possible evening and weekend activities.

Organized, with ability to prioritize many tasks. Professional written and verbal skills. Ability to work independently and self-motivated.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or relevant field preferred.

Minimum 3 years experience preferred.

Salary: starting at $53,000 based on experience
