The Senior Technical Project Manager role is within the US Web Solutions (USWS) team of the Enterprise Comms & Mar Tech Experiences (ECMX) organization of American Express. ECMX supports business units across the enterprise and sits within the Enterprise Digital and Data Solutions group (EDDS). The USWS Senior Technical Project Manager works within and across workstreams for common capabilities group and will focus on delivery of the acquisition & loyalty web marketing technical solutions that makes ECMX an essential part of our customers’ digital lives. The job requires direct management of a team of 15 people, comprising of employees and contractors (on-shore & off-shore software engineers). The job involves development of web solutions, operational strategies & implementation for marketing needs, through features creation and digital marketing asset development & updates on web pages of American Express proprietary and partner channels. Leverages technical understanding to support executional certainty for product and both onsite & offshore engineering teams. Ensures visibility across stakeholder groups of outstanding issues, risks, and delivery status. Identifies, supports, and/or actions next steps to resolve impediments to delivery. The Senior Technical Project Manager will also be primarily responsible for end-to-end USWS channel deliverables, align projects with customer needs and requirements, construct detailed work plans, achieve milestones, and communicate the results across a stakeholder audience. Being part of ECMX End to End technical process transformation initiatives, and active involvement in development of high-quality software, through technical leadership inputs on software product development process, reviews, and debugs code, collaborates with internal teams, and ensures the team is following organization level standards and guidelines.

Responsibilities include:

Responsible for end-to-end USWS technical solutions delivery processes, including on-time delivery, technology migration, launch schedule management, delivering complex business requirements by coordinating the delivery streams, organize implementations and business walkthroughs.

Consult on web solutions to meet marketing needs on web content management, on a daily basis.

Prioritize transformation/engineering work and balancing the requirements of different partners and stakeholders.

Serving as a core technical member representing USWS for any agile team that leads user story analysis and elaboration, designs and develops software applications.

Conduct periodical meetings with all the stakeholders to make sure all the gathered information is documented and walk through it so that none of the requirements are missed.

Consult on & production implementation of technical aspects of software development for assigned applications, including projects involving Java, React JS, Node JS, Angular JS, DB2 and Spring, and creating API’s.

Designing solutions for complex business and technical requirements. Building scalable, highly resilient software with adequate logging.

Responsible for effective applications process & architecture, and work/coordinate with other team’s architect, engineers, and vendors as necessary.

Identifying exciting opportunities for adopting new technologies to solve existing needs and predicting future challenges. Participate in user acceptance and mandatory governance reviews required as part of organization policy and get required approvals to move code to production.

Lead/contribute to ongoing refactoring of code, utilizing visualization and other techniques to fast-track concepts, and delivering continuous improvement.

Working with product managers to prioritize features in the product backlog and managing a list of technical requirements based on industry trends, new technologies, known defects, and issues.

Guide and mentor team members and collaborate with external teams & Product Owners.

Actively participate in USWS Innovate to Elevate program and identify all the existing gaps and provide technical assistance and solutions.

Identify manual & high-risk components and come up with automation solutions to reduce manual efforts and risk.

Ability to investigate problems quickly to find root causes and preparing fixes. Requires working with teams across different regions/countries.

Lead/Contribute and deliver optimization and transformation of ECMX processes and platforms, independently as well as part of cross functional team initiatives.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering or equivalent work experience required.

Excellent digital technical project/process management skills with demonstrated ability to effectively lead cross-functional teams.

Responsible for tracking iteration progress, actively adding to design discussions, issue resolution, and removing obstacles to ensure sprint/iteration commitments are met.

Strong engineering and professional leadership skills, and demonstrated ability to lead, partner, and collaborate multi-functionally across many engineering teams.

Minimum 10 years of proven experience using Java, React, Angular, Spring, Spring Boot, Struts, Ignite, Restful APIs, Redis to provide tech solutions/build tools.

Significant hands-on experience in Banking & Finance and credit card domain. And work with cross-functional teams and need to be able to clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Knowledge of/experience with Amex marketing processes and systems will be a big plus

Participates in sprint activities as needed, like daily scrum, requirement gathering & discussions, product backlog refinement, retrospective, planning and reviews.

Coach the team to be aware of & embrace the Technology SDLC process, Agile values, principles, and practices, and actively inspire teams to reflect and improve their delivery capacity.

Must be an independent self-starter who is able to perform at a high level under pressure, lead/coordinate activities of teams.

Proficiency in creating procedure documents, process maps (in Visio), slides, training documents.

Excellent relationship/partner management skills/experience with ability to interact, consult and influence up and down across multiple partners/stakeholders.

Strategic and creative thinker with the ability to problem solve and develop strategies. Ability to manage multiple projects across teams.

Qualifications

Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually bonus benefits
