Location: 1114 Avenue of the Americas, 43rd Floor, New York, NY 10036Position Title: Lead, Design (NY-LD-2024A(3)i)Job Description:The Lead, Design leads the full strategic design process hands on to transform customer insights into impactful opportunities for growth. Leads qualitative research and synthesizes learnings into actionable insights and tangible artifacts (e.g. personas, customer journey maps, opportunity maps). Facilitates ideation workshops and creative sessions. Envisions and conceptualizes new business ideas and services with game changing potential and brings them to life through creative storytelling. Iteratively designs and refines solutions through low- to high-fidelity prototyping. Stands up experiments and pilots to validate/evaluate new products, services, or businesses. Works closely with case management to support cross-functional process management and project delivery and ensures that Innovation & Design (I&D) delivers successfully. Helps ensure that I&D is successful at delivering high-impact results. Independently leads design portion of case work; plans workflows, identifies, prioritizes, and executes on highest value add activities, oversees work for more junior designers. Consistently helps build alignment on case priorities and backlog; enables seamless relationship with case team. Effectively collaborates with, co-creates with, and influences multiple stakeholders (case team, client team, experts, outside partners). Builds relationships with senior level client stakeholders. Helps to bring Bain to the next level as a business. Enhances I&D brand through support of external marketing activities. Plays an active role in the recruitment of new design talent. Builds the I&D knowledge base by capturing learnings from client engagements. Teaches and transfers knowledge, expertise, and capabilities to Bain teams and client teams. Serves as a supervisor for more junior members of the design team. Supports new business development for I&D. Contributes to I&D culture creation and takes on team, office, and firm initiatives. Position is in a fixed location based in the New York, NY office; however, telecommuting from a home office may also be allowed up to 40%. Travel to client sites required up to 30%. This position will require 40% travel within the U.S. Multiple Positions Available.Job Requirements:Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Design, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Strategy, or a directly related field plus two (2) years of experience shaping digital products, services, and/or new ventures (or related experience).Experience must include:•Thorough understanding of Design Thinking and exposure to Agile methods. •Skillset expertise, including knowledge of HCD approaches: design research, synthesis/prioritization, workshop design and facilitation, concepting, with some skillsets across omnichannel experience design, and/or digital product design (UX/UI, prototyping). •Understanding of all parts of the design process, from early-stage insights gathering, to strategy definition, concepting, and prototyping. •Fluency in working with state-of-the-art collaboration and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Miro, Webflow, Adobe CS). •Relevant professional hands-on experience in user research, synthesis, concepting and prototyping across experience elements, with particular emphasis in designing and bringing digital product/customer experiences to market. •Experience working in a client services environment. •Experience in full cycle design projects. •Understanding of business models. 40 hours/week, 9:00am-5:00pm, Salary: $100,818 - $186,500/year. In New York City, the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is between $100,818 - $186,500/year, placement within this range will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to experience, education, licensure/certifications, training and skill level.
