JOB SUMMARY:The Multimedia Production Specialist (MPS) is primarily responsible for capturing and editing high standard multimedia content pieces, requiring a high degree of technical expertise and creativity. The position will direct on-set productions in a variety of capacities, including management and instruction of on-set assistance, and in serving as director of photography. The position also cuts and edits collected video footage until it meets the appropriate client approval, including rearranging and splicing scenes that have already been shot, and inserting music, sound, or optical effects.In addition, the MPS works specifically to strengthen and enhance the image and awareness of The Salvation Army by identifying compelling stories; supports the communications team during emergency response situations involving National Headquarters, Territorial and Divisional Headquarters and other emergency responder agencies as may be involved.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: This job description should not be interpreted as all inclusive.

As the primary videography and multimedia development support for the Multimedia & Digital Communications Developer, the Media Specialist, Video Production will be responsible for assisting with overall video and photography content production, editing, and distribution, furthering the department’s internal and external communication goals.Video ProductionUses photo and video to effectively communicate the mission of The Salvation Army internally and externally, and to achieve the digital communications objectives of The Salvation Army National Community Relations and Development section to increase fundraising, and to promote and protect The Salvation Army’s brand.Visually interprets the story needs of the producers by imagining, visualizing and creating cinematic looks using The Salvation Army NCRD’s existing inventory of tools.Works with NCRD Communications team in the development of story telling opportunities and caries out work as a member of the team, which may include script writing, scheduling, location scouting, talent briefings and coaching, and more as needed.Demonstrates originality and variety in the “looks” created to keep productions feeling current and fresh.Keeps abreast of current trends in production and content distribution/use, with an understanding on how to achieve “looks” using lighting, cameras, and lensing.Serves as editor on content pieces as assigned, including documentary and narrative videos of all types.Makes informed creative decisions about cuts to preserve messaging of the piece.Takes notes and direction from department and section heads.Produces multiple edits from the same raw footage to meet needs of multiple audiences.As part of the post-production work, has a responsibility for updating, uploading, and exercising quality control of finished video and image resources, as well as the publishing of these items as requested.Responsible for keeping track of (video/capture) cards, transferring footage into computer and ensuring the footage is secure.Assists in digital transfer for media management, storage and transfer on hard drives to contracted editors.Maintains an organized bank of finished video and image assets for use by the NCRD Communications team and others as needed.Assists the Multimedia and Digital Communications Developer to teach/train interns and novice team members to assist as needed.Equipment Tracking, Maintenance, and TravelResponsible for loading, unloading, and driving of Salvation Army vehicles related to multimedia collection.Must be available to travel and capture content on short notice, to assist in Salvation Army events and in supporting corporate partner initiatives.Social MediaAssists and supports in creating content that will appear on the national website and social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube.Follows organizational style guide on all digital materials and communications and maintains brand alignment by maintaining corporate identity consistency.Team CollaborationAssists in the implementation of strategic department and external communications goals.Participates in planning and implementing national conferences and training resources as needed.Learns and understands the roles and responsibilities of all other members of the NCRD Communications Department to assist with all work needs of the department as the situation may require.OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:Works with SA Officers, THQ and department staff, volunteers, vendors, and donors.Assumes other duties as assigned by the Director of Communications, the NCRD Secretary, or the Assistant NCRD Secretary.Demonstrates dependability through attendance and punctuality.Must be prepared to deploy at a moments’ notice to quickly capture a developing story.

This includes preparing the deployment of needed digital and multimedia communication equipment in the event that they are needed for urgent situations which sometimes will occur outside scheduled work hours.MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT USED:Video and Audio Equipment

Laptop/ComputerMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Associate or a bachelor’s degree in film/television production highly preferred.Awareness of film procedure, terminology and production.On-set production experience required.Working knowledge and proficiency in social media content and engagement strategiesProficient use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel PowerPoint, OneDrive), Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, Dropbox, and other postproduction software.LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:A valid driver’s license.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Proficient in usage of all types of camera equipment.Proficient in usage of lighting for video production.Proficient in audio recording equipmentProficient in professional video editing software such as Adobe Premiere, Avid, and DaVinci Resolve.Proficient with encoding video to different formats.Ability to perform basic color correction and basic lower thirds and graphics.Ability to edit sound, including audio cleanup and addition of music beds and sound effects.Excellent communication skills; including organizational, proofreading, editing, and problem-solving skills.A working knowledge of online communications, including website and social media publishing

(production equipment).Ability to access and produce information from a laptop or desktop computer.Ability to understand written information.Ability to meet attendance requirements and travel requirements.Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.Ability to effectively and efficiently work on multiple deadline projects at the same time without becoming frustrated or disorganized, and under minimal supervision.WORKING CONDITIONS:Work is primarily performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.This position is a front-line role and includes front line involvement at disasters and special events as the national multimedia and digital communications developer supporting our territories and will require frequent extended distance travel. Because the position is part of the National Community Relations & Development’s communications team, there are no guarantees that any incumbent in this position will be authorized to take vacation days between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
