Summary of Job• Intra + Inter-Library Loan - Develop complex understanding of software programs utilized for intra and inter library loan requests, procurement, and processing. Process intra-library(WVLS Courier Services) loan materials from patron request to delivery of borrowed material(s). Process inter-library (WISCAT Services) loan materials from patron request to delivery of borrowed material(s). Keep neat and orderly records and statistics regarding inter-library loan, generating reports as needed. Run Holds report daily. Search stacks, pull books or media materials for processing. Run EXPIRED Holds report daily. Run Holds Pick Up Notices report daily. Search stacks, pull books or media for processing. Provide customer service by answering patron Interlibrary Loan questions and concerns by phone, in person, and via email. Stay informed about issues, trends, and news affecting intra and inter library loan services. Recommend procedural and workflow changes as needed to maximize efficiency.• Circulation Desk - Performs opening procedures for the circulation desk including checking in books from overnight exterior drop box. Turning computers on, etc. Maintains the physical condition and organization of the Circulation Desk. Performs circulation desk duties using automated library system, including checking materials in and out, renewing and reserving materials, patron registration, shelving, shelf reading, etc. Responds to patrons' questions and requests. Answers telephone in a professional manner. Works Saturday shift covering the circulation desk as part of regular work schedule.• Writer's Group + Book Club - creates, maintains, and engages the community in outreach activities related to writing and Book Club activities. Requests books for book clubs. Maintains WVLS book club data for the APL and its associated book clubs. Develops, initiates, evaluates, and executes writing groups and book club groups. Maintains records and provides regular reports associated with groups and activity participation.• Technology - performs basic functions of e-mail applications. Performs basic calendar operations and task management. Understands, uses, and helps others use basic computer hardware and peripherals, mobile devices, and the Internet. Demonstrates information literacy. Understands common security protocols related to Internet use. Understands and performs basic functions and tasks of common software programs. Perform basic word processing operations and basic printing operations from common applications. Maintains awareness of commonly used technologies and applies technology for ongoing learning and collaboration.• Interpersonal Competencies - develops and maintains effective relationships with others to achieve common goals. Applies effective strategies to manage organizational conflict and difficult coworker and/or patron behaviors. Applies customer service skills to enhance the level of patron satisfaction. Applies effective techniques to address difficult situations with patrons. Understands and acts in accordance with the basic values and ethics of library service, and APL policies specifically. CURRENT EXPECTED WORK SCHEDULE:Library Hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 10AM - 7PM; Saturday 10AM - 5PM. This position is expected to work four weekdays and every Saturday. Staff are expected to be available one hour before the Antigo Public Library opens and thirty-minutes after the Antigo Public Library closes.Essential Duties & Responsibilities• Maintain good relations with the public and staff.• Follow policies and procedures consistently.• Attend and participate in meetings, workshops, and conferences as appropriate.• Maintain predictable and regular physical attendance.• Maintain the ability to travel to and from branch locations within the county.• Provide truthful, accurate written and verbal communication.• Provide other duties as assigned.Qualifications• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or previous library experience.• Experience in a library environment.• Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as analytical, time-management and problem-solving skills.• Excellent project management skills, and willingness to take a leadership role in cataloging projects and decisions.• Flexibility and adaptability, willingness to embrace change and create innovative solutions in resource description.• Ability to work independently as well as collectively with colleagues in the library and throughout the WVLS consortium.• Working knowledge of computers and internet use including but not limited to: Office programs, Google programs, email applications, and other technology needs of APL patrons. Ability to effectively use a multi-line phone, 10-key calculator, fax machine, scanner, and any other tools or equipment available to patrons and staff for use.Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities• Knowledge of library materials and bibliographic tools.• Ability to organize work, set priorities, use time effectively, work independently, and meet deadlines.• Ability to multi-task, create acceptable work product by set deadlines, and work effectively with a variety of people and situations.• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.• Ability to pay close attention to details and concentrate on work with frequent interruptions.• Ability to analyze and creatively solve problems related to the position.• Flexible, adaptable, and able to flourish in a changing environment.• Ability to cross-train to perform other duties and responsibilities as required.• Possession of a valid driver's license and a driving record free of suspension or revocation in any state. Wisconsin Retirement Service:

Full-time hourly Library employees are enrolled in the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) through the Department of Employee Trust Funds (ETF) on their date of hire into the full-time position.

Life Insurance:

Life insurance is offered through ETF. New employees are eligible for coverage the first of the month following thirty (30) days after hire. Employees can enroll in up to five (5) units of coverage. Each unit of coverage consists of 1x the employee's annual income rounded to the next higher thousand. An employee may also enroll in spouse/dependent coverage.

Health Insurance:

Health insurance benefits are provided to employees available in single, limited family, and family plans. Limited family consists of employee plus spouse, or employee plus child(ren). The employee pays 10% of the premium and stop loss and administrative fees. The City pays 90% of the premium. Health insurance may begin on the date of hire.

Dental Insurance:

Dental insurance is provided to employees available in single, employee plus spouse, employee plus child(ren), or family. The City pays 100% of the premium. Dental insurance may begin on the date of hire.

Aflac:

The City offers Aflac to employees which is 100% paid for by the employee. Some coverage they offer include dental insurance, short term disability, hospitalization, vision insurance, and cancer coverage, etc. Eligibility for Aflac lies solely with Aflac.

Sick Leave:

Employees earn one day of sick leave each month and are eligible to use that sick leave once they have been employed for six months.

Vacation:

Vacation leave is available and is based on years of employment and received on the employee's anniversary date.

Holidays/Personal Days:

Employees are paid for eight and a half holidays per year along with three personal days and are eligible to receive these once they have been employed for six months.

Clothing Allowance:

Full-time non-represented library hourly employees may be eligible for up to $100 in approved logo wear each calendar year.

The City also offers a section 125 flex program and hosts two different deferred compensation companies through which employees can begin their own plans.
