The Creative Designer, under the guidance of the Director of Creative within the University Marketing & Communications division, will play a pivotal role in enhancing the university’s visual narrative. The designer will collaborate with marketing and brand leaders to meet the design needs of various initiatives and campaigns, ensuring alignment with the university’s brand standards. Responsibilities include creating digital and print graphics, offering creative solutions for campus groups, and maintaining strong relationships with university departments and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

This position develops and executes creative solutions that integrate with the university’s visual identity, brand platform, and design standards. Day-to-day duties will vary, based on priorities, projects, and medium. The Creative Designer’s duties include, but are not limited to:

Develop and execute creative solutions that align with the university’s visual identity and brand standards.

Create impactful designs for print, web, and digital mediums.

Manage creative projects from concept to completion, ensuring timely delivery within budget constraints.

Innovate and develop technology-based creative solutions, incorporating feedback to refine design strategies.

Promote a collaborative work environment to enhance team creativity and productivity.

Design diverse projects with strategic insights to produce appealing marketing and communication materials.

Develop visual communications for various marketing materials, including social media and video projects.

Assist in developing and maintaining the university’s brand system and creative expression through integrated marketing campaigns.

Minimum Education and/or Work Experience

Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, multimedia, fine arts, or a similar discipline.

Minimum five years of experience in a design or creative field;

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is intelligent, curious, and self-motivated with equal abilities to lead and listen within a collaborative, multifunctional team. This role will also work with UMC colleagues and other creative teams across the University to generate curiosity, excitement, pride, and gratitude in Loyola among targeted audiences and stakeholders.

Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, multimedia, fine arts, or a similar discipline.

Minimum five years of experience in a design or creative field; agency experience preferred.

Superior understanding of design principles, including illustration, typography, composition, and storytelling.

Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and After Effects); working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams).

Experience in print and digital design, environmental graphics, and providing design support for high-profile events.

Experience in video production and/or editing is a plus.

Ability to manage multiple complex projects, balance deadlines, and maintain high attention to detail.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Flexibility to work on weekends and possible late hours depending on project requirements.
