Job Description
An established Wholesale Manufacturer of branded and licensed children's apparel in NYC is looking to fill a Technical Design position. The Technical Designer is responsible for developing and maintaining a consistent level of quality and fit for Children 's Sportswear , Layette, Swimwear, Outerwear, Dresses .
Duties & Responsibilities
Work with Design and Production teams to establish and maintain fit and construction standards to ensure brand consistency and qualityCreate spec packages for each style including correct grade rules and non-standard construction detailsAccurate measurement and evaluation of development, proto samples for spec, quality & workmanshipPrepare and lead fit sessions with Design and Production DeptsCommunicate measurement, construction and workmanship comments to vendors, including providing detailed explanations, diagrams and/or patterns as neededWork with Production and Compliance Depts to ensure all products meet relevant children 's safety requirementsAnswer questions via email regarding fit, specs, pattern and construction as neededRequirements
Minimum 2 years relevant experience, children swear experience is preferredFamiliar with measuring sample points of measurement to ensure submitted samples are within tolerance of required specificationsStrong knowledge of knit and woven garment constructionKnowledge of patternmaking, sewing terminology and garment constructionHave understanding of garment manufacturing and product development processProficient in the use of Excel and MS Word; knowledge of Illustrator a plusMust be willing to work in the office 5 days/week.
