Summary Statement:

Join the Museum of Science, Boston, as a

Technical Producer

and lead the charge in creating cutting-edge experiences in our Immersive Theaters! In this role, you'll oversee the technical aspects of developing and producing digital content for our immersive venues, including the Planetarium, Omni, and 4D Theater. Collaborating with a talented team and external partners, you'll ensure the successful technical implementation of projects that captivate and inspire our guests.

Your expertise will guide the visuals development process for original digital content, including full-dome Planetarium productions, and you'll recommend and implement innovative tech solutions that push the boundaries of what's possible in immersive storytelling. You'll also train and mentor team members, expanding our internal capacity to deliver extraordinary experiences, and serve as the go-to advisor for all technical aspects of our theaters.

As part of the Immersive Theaters team, you'll also contribute to the development and delivery of live educational programs, ensuring smooth daily operations and unforgettable guest experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

Innovate & Implement:

Drive the technical development and implementation of 12-18 programs annually across our Immersive Theaters, ensuring seamless execution and innovation.Lead Major Projects:

Oversee the technical logistics and execution of 3-5 high-profile projects each year, managing tech calls, rehearsals, and ensuring flawless delivery.Produce & Create:

Support the production of one major full-length Planetarium show every 1.5-2 years, along with 2-4 smaller fulldome productions annually, reaching both national and international audiences.Collaborate & Consult:

Work with other departments and contribute to Museum-wide initiatives, providing technical expertise on 5-7 projects annually.Mentor & Train:

Train and mentor 3-5 staff members on theater technical processes, expanding our team's skill set and capacity.Engage Audiences:

Present or run tech for 2-5 live Planetarium shows and 2-5 prerecorded shows per week, creating memorable experiences for our guests.Manage Resources:

Oversee equipment valued at over $2 million and ensure all technical resources are utilized effectively.

What You'll Bring:

Post high school coursework, technical degree, associate's degree, or relevant certification.4+ years of experience in technical production, including theater operations, multimedia development, and large-format digital content production.Proficiency in multimedia content production, including audio/visual production and 2D/3D animation software.Strong problem-solving and organizational skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.Expertise in discovering technical solutions for multimedia venues, with experience in projection, screen, sound, lighting, and show control systems.Leadership experience in coordinating creative teams and delivering live events or performances.

Starting Salary:

Exempt (Salaried). $80,000-$85,000/year

Work Schedule:

Tuesday - Saturday, 40 hrs/week with schedule flexibility, occasional holidays, and some before/after hours work required.
