The customer is at the center of everything we do at PayPal. Our cross-functional team of designers, researchers, engineers, and product leaders partner across the PayPal family of companies as one team to deliver unique and meaningful products for millions of customers around the world.Job Description: As a Lead System Designer within the PayPal UI team, you will create the foundation on which our product interfaces are built upon. Our ideal candidate will be a central part of creating a clear and consistent look and feel for our digital products. You'll work with a team of designers to enable PayPal to deliver world-class experiences at scale.We are looking for a lead-level candidate who can evolve PayPal’s experiential language rooted in intention and evidence. You can present concepts to cross-functional partners, turning their feedback into quick iterations, and working with engineering to drive high-fidelity implementation. You’ll drive the creation of UI components, patterns, and documentation of interactive components in our design system.Job Responsibilities:

Lead the creation and improvement of a design system that includes the different elements and rules for our products.Work closely with designers, user experience researchers, and developers to make sure everything fits together nicely.Guide and support a team of designers working on the design system.Encourage teamwork and creative thinking to meet our design and business goals.Make sure our design system helps users easily navigate and enjoy using our products.Keep clear records of our design system, including guidelines and best practices.Explain the benefits of the design system to team members and stakeholders.Act as a mentor within the PayPal UI team as well as across the Design org to build a strong culture and aptitude for rich experiences.Requirements:

A successful candidate will have at least 7+ years of experience in design system development, with a history of creating and improving successful design systems.Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and guide a team of designers.Good understanding of design principles, accessibility, and what makes a design work well for users.Strong demonstration of visual craft and attention to detail.Background in the creation and maintenance of design system documentation.Clear communication skills, and the ability to explain design choices to different team members.An understanding of the broader design system communities, with a desire to innovate next-generation systems, tooling, and workflows.Experience working with UX leads, brand teams, product designers, engineers, and product managers preferred.Experience across products and platforms, mobile apps, financial services expertise an advantage.PayPal is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.
