Make sure to apply with all the requested information, as laid out in the job overview below.We are seeking an experienced Director to manage and oversee environmental, health and safety, chemistry process control lab, and quality and reliability testing activities. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, improve existing systems, and enhance overall operational efficiency. This position reports to the Plant Manager and supervises lab technicians, waste treatment personnel, and manages outside consultants and vendors.Responsibilities:Schedule pick-ups of hazardous waste, maintain manifests and oversee operation of batch and flow through waste treatment systemOversee correct labeling of hazardous waste containers and all required recordsTroubleshoot problems with the waste treatment system and perform maintenance and calibrations for waste treatment systemOversee compliance with industrial waste discharge permitOversee compliance and complete regulatory filings including EPA Toxic Release Inventory, EPA Hazardous Waste, quarterly sewer discharge report, and EPA air permitMaintain safety compliance records and schedule and provide safety trainingHandle inspections with regulatory agencies and work with outside laboratoriesOversee techs who perform process bath testing, chemical additions and troubleshoot process bathsEvaluate and implement new chemistries and techniquesPerform monthly and periodic testing including salt spray, humidity, adhesion bend test, and Taber abrasionOversee in-depth projects such as changing or moving entire process lines, designing and implementing a new waste treatment system, and procedural changes to improve operationsQualifications:Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field is preferred.Experience with management and regulatory is required.Waste Treatment experience is preferred.About ActalentActalent is a global leader in engineering and sciences services and talent solutions.
