Salary:

Based on 100% annual salary of $74,600. Approximately $12,433 per course (pending final budget approval). Appointment is eligible for renewal depending on need, funding, and performance.

Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications:

- MFA or equivalent experience in relevant field.

Preferred qualifications:

- Music Directing experience in the professional realm or at the university level is desired.

- Teaching experience at the university level is desired.

Duties:

The Department of Theatre, Film, and Digital Production seeks one highly qualified individual to serve as the VAP Music Director of our Fall 2024 production of

Peter and the Starcatcher

and teach one course in Theatre Practicum in the Fall 2024 quarter. Duties will also consist of advising/mentoring undergraduate students, as well as service to the department of Theatre, Film, and Digital Production. Specifically, the department would like this candidate to produce a Fall quarter musical theater showcase/cabaret featuring students enrolled in TFDP 180F and any students from the department who are interested in participating.

The successful candidate will teach:



Fall 2024:

TFDP 173 – Performance in Production

Serve as the Music Director to our mainstage production of

Peter and the Starcatcher , a play by Rick Elice, with Music by Wayne Barker. Production calendar is available upon request. Music directors are required to attend all meetings and provide live keyboard accompaniment at all rehearsals and performances.



Fall 2024:

TFDP 180F – Theatre Practicum.

Serve as the Part-Time Visiting Assistant Professor teaching theatrical production theories and practices in Musical Comedy. Lessons may include song interpretation, genre conventions, and audition practices. The Part-time Visiting Assistant Professor should also provide vocal coaching. This course should introduce a variety of musical numbers: Ensemble work, duets and solos from various musicals. The ideal candidate should be conversant with the musical canon and beyond, supporting our students performing material that reflects their diverse identities but also classic roles.
