GENERAL SUMMARY

Catalyst Creative is looking for an Apparel Technical Designer for Men’s Swim and Sportswear. Candidates must have import development & production experience, strong product knowledge, be organized, self-motivated, detail orientated, have excellent written/oral communication skills. Please have a positive and Can-Do attitude. Must be flexible and be able to shift daily work tasks & responsibilities at any given moment.

Position reports into the Director of Manufacturing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage & own the fit and garment construction per Customer requirements.Create & update Graded specsPrepare and lead FittingsIssue Fit evaluationsReview & correct patterns and maintain Block librariesMeasure samples as neededUpdate CADs and tech packs in Illustrator when neededCreate and maintain WIP / sample trackersDaily communication with overseas/import vendorsExecute to customer specifications, procedures, and calendars.Prioritize working on and mailing Fit samples per customer depending on their Fit schedule and shipping deadlinesCommunicate, interface, and maintain strong cross-functional relationships with Customers, Design, Product Development, Production, Technical Design, Merchandising and Account Management/SalesDevelop complete tech packs in coordination with the design team, including: detailed specifications, fabrications, and technical drawingsBe able to accurately assess garments for fit, spec, and shape; measure samples, create specs, finalize grading, identify issues & give thorough information to make complete correctionsMaintain strong understanding of fit and construction standards to ensure brand consistency and qualityPerform other duties as assigned

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED

Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Outlook, Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Experience working on branded and/or retailer label garments. Private label experience is a plusExperience with patternmaking and digital Pattern Design Software (Tukatech, Gerber, Lectra, Optitex)Experience in PDM / PLM software a plusExperience with 3D software (Browzwear, Clo 3D, etc.) is a huge plus but not requiredStrong multitasking, organizational skills and the ability to prioritize effectivelyMust be able to be flexible regarding job duties and pivot daily tasks as neededMinimum 5 years relevant experience in apparel imports and in Apparel Technical DesignMust have strong technical knowledge of garment construction, fabrics and tech packsSuccessful experience in leading apparel fitting with ability to handle volume in fitting process
