ABOUT THE ROLE:The Executive Editor, reports to the Editor in Chief and is responsible for managing editorial content flow and has direct oversight into some of ADWEEK’s most important channels: agencies, brands and creative. The Executive Editor also assists in coordinating awards coverage and works with the events team to help stand up ADWEEK’s conference.

ADWEEK’s executive editor supervises the development of its editorial coverage, working closely with the editor-in-chief to develop and execute a sustainable industry coverage strategy across the newsroom. The executive editor helps facilitate collaboration across the newsroom, to help ensure Adweek’s content is influencing its awards shows and events. The executive editor also helps the production team produce the print magazine, working closely with the editor-in-chief to manage deadlines. The executive editor also oversees some channel editors and writers, overseeing their day-to-day coverage.

YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:Lead the creative, brand, and agency team and coordinate coverage across all platforms to ensure Adweek’s content is high-value, creative, entertaining, and unique.Help enforce an editorial strategy that establishes ADWEEK’s aggressive, agenda-setting coverage.Help develop new franchises and tentpoles across the site, social platforms, and print to drive readership; work closely with Experiences team to extend these opportunities to live events.Serve as a change leader who embraces and encourages a test-and-learn environment where we love data, fail fast, and constantly iterate.

WHAT WILL SET YOU APART:The EE should have 7 years of extensive background in journalism and reporting; a track record of building a brand with clear differentiation and purpose; experience with free and paid products and how to differentiate premium.A successful EE will understand and evangelize the balance of data and gut instinct. They will be an experienced manager who leads with empathy and clarity and is able to shift easily from big-picture strategic thinking to granular decision making in the newsroom.They will have razor-sharp story instincts, a passion for marketing, agencies, and brands, plus a track record of inspiring journalists to produce work that is impactful, unique, useful, and compelling.

ADDITIONAL DETAILSLocation: ADWEEK is based in Midtown Manhattan. The position will require you to work in a hybrid capacity.Salary: $100,000-$150,000The salary range provided reflects the Company’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. The final compensation offered will be determined by various factors such as the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications, and location. ADWEEK is headquartered in New York City, and the salary specified is tailored for candidates residing within the New York tri-state area.
