Leading Women’s Clothing and Intimate Wear Brand seeking a Technical Designer!Location:

Hybrid (4 days in office), Manhattan

Overview:The Technical Designer will play a critical role in ensuring the fit, construction, and quality of garments within a leading women's clothing and intimate wear brand. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Design, Merchandising, Raw Material, Product Development, and more. The ideal candidate will be a confident problem-solver who can adapt to changing business needs and work independently to achieve high standards in product development.

Key Responsibilities:Partnership & Collaboration:Support the technical design team in partnering with Design and Merchandising teams.Collaborate with cross-functional associates, including Raw Material, Product Development, and Vendors, to ensure the successful technical development of new styles.Serve as a functional expert and brand guardian for a specific product area, maintaining consistency across product categories.Fit & Construction:Evaluate the fit and construction of prototype samples, ensuring adherence to design aesthetic and fit intent.Lead fit sessions on live models and communicate fit/construction corrections to vendors using written instructions, measurements, and digital images.Analyze Wear Test results and provide recommendations for product and fit enhancements.Product Development:Track and manage workflow to ensure seasonal calendar deadlines are met.Identify potential production, quality, and costing issues and provide actionable recommendations.Maintain knowledge of the product development process from concept through production, including patternmaking, construction, costing, and materials.

Qualifications:Education & Experience:Technical education in garment fit and construction at the degree level or equivalent work experience.5-7 years of industry experience, with at least 2-3 years of intimate apparel experience preferred.Experience with product development technical specification programs (PDM, PLM, etc.) and 3D software (Clo3D, Browzwear, etc.) is a bonus.Technical Skills:Knowledge of Bra/Swim patternmaking, construction, fit, and grading is essential; knowledge of Shapewear and Sports Bras is a plus.Familiarity with factory processes, manufacturing techniques, and machinery.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.).
