Currently we are seeking an

Assistant Technical Communications Designer

to join our Creative & Marketing team to support Nuna Baby Essentials and Tavo Pets Essentials with products relative to creating instruction manuals, warning labels, packaging, and other on-product brand artwork.

In this role the

Assistant Technical Communications Designer

will consistently strive to improve all on-product and packing designs, globally, matching that of our leading-edge, premium baby gear brand in a constantly evolving global marketplace.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESDesign and Technical Writing |

Assist with:Creating product labels and instruction manuals – layout, design, line art, writing and specificationsFollowing federal and industry compliance requirementsAchieving satisfactory and intuitive assembly and usage with consumersCreating consistent and within accurate specifications, cartons, product packaging and product logo filesDrawing accurate line art of products to be included in various product communications.Conducting quality checks and reviews on all technical communications and artwork for accuracy, appropriateness, and correct usage.

Product Development |

Assist with:Creating initial product label layouts to establish the required space and layout design that fits with the overall product design language.Providing creative solutions to enhance the overall product visuals through the placement, shape/design and content of product labels.Conducting studies and verification testing with the design team to observe product interaction in an effort to determine necessary design changes or instruction changes for satisfactory consumer experience.Participating in Internal Design Reviews (IDR) and safety reviews to evaluate and propose future direction on new product technical communication.

Documentation |

Assist with:Maintaining a high level of quality, clarity, and consistency for all documents.Tracking documentation through the entire development process while adhering to strict timelines, maintaining revision control, maintaining change lists, and managing reviewers.Ensuring that documentation is accurate, complete, meets specifications, and adheres to standards for quality and style.Expediting change request consideration and approval processes including coordinating review by stakeholders of project change requests, managing stakeholders and approvers for timely response on change management requests, and maintaining comprehensive change management files and documentation.

OtherContributes to the strategy and execution of product launch marketing materials with the creative & brand teams.Maintain a flawlessly organized folder structure and file systems.Assist with technical communication project schedules and activities.Comfortably communicate with colleagues in offices around the globe for project timelines, product information, and asset approvals.Continually seeks improvement on all on-product and packages designs, formats, styles, workflows and processes.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONSExperience, Knowledge & EducationOne (1) to three (3) years’ work experience in the area of technical communications, instruction writing, or graphic design.Experience with creating consumer product labels and instruction manuals preferred.Experience within multi-national organization a plus.Possess portfolio of completed graphic designs and creative projects.Associate or bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field OR an equivalent amount of work experience is required.

Skills & CompetenciesMust have an extremely good eye for detail and consistency.Excellent written and oral communication skills, and editorial skills.Ability to work cross-functionally to gather project requirements, product information, and assignment approvals, ensuring projects deadlines are met.Exceptionally organized and self-motivated.A resourceful and collaborative team player; able to build and maintain strong rapport with all internal stakeholders.Ability to take complex technical information and adapt it for audiences who have nontechnical backgrounds in a concise and effective manner.High level of creativity, passion, and integrity.Adept at operating effectively in multiple cultural contexts.Ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities while maintaining tight deadlines.Possess proven ability to organize, research, write, edit and publish work to the highest level of quality in English.
