The Customer Service Engineering (CSE) Design Team is a team of multidisciplinary designers working to make technology that enables IT admins and information workers to evolve and improve the way they work. We’re at the forefront of making the next generation of management software for businesses across the world.

Copilot introduces a new way of working and interacting with Microsoft 365 that helps our users be more productive and work faster. But for many people this is their first time integrating AI into their workflows. As a Senior Product Designer, you will design experiences that help them adapt to this new way of working. You’ll work closely with our product teams to build standalone and integrated experiences that help customers build the confidence to do and learn more with Copilot.

Responsibilities

Product vision and craft: You have a high level of skill in all levels of design, and understand when to use different artifacts (flow diagrams, mock ups, prototypes etc) to help communicate your vision or final product designs. You have experience in systems thinking, information architecture and visual skills to maintain a high-quality bar across all steps of the design process and lead by example.

Product alignment and prioritization: You influence product and business strategy forcomplex products bybalancing user insights and business goals. Youbreak down complex problems and product needs into high quality designs and deliver them on time. You work alongside Product Management and Engineering leadership to drive alignment on long termproduct strategy.

Lead design in cross-team partnerships: You drive complex conversations across products and organizations to advocate for design excellence, shared patterns, and design components, leveraging work of others across the company and connecting the right partners for the right design problems.

Design team: You encourage and drive collaboration across the design team, encouraging consistent critique and growth mindset. You’re comfortable mentoringand helping other designers.

Product team: You lead conversations that advocate for the needs of our user. You can navigate conflicting priorities and feedback, driving consensus and alignment across multiple teams.You can look horizontally across all product areas and identify opportunities to make connections and leverage the work of others.

leadership: You’re engaged in conversations with leadership about the status and strategy of your product areas. You communicate clearly and concisely, andare able toadjust your content and stylefor different audiences. You don’t shy away from tough conversations, andare always honest and transparent.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 5+ years experience working in product or service design

OR Master's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 4+ years experience working in product or service design

OR equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with generative AI and large language models (LLMs) and seamlessly integrating them into the UX of existing product experiences.

Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 8+ years experience working in product or service design

OR Master's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 6+ years experience working in product or service design

OR equivalent experience (e.g., demonstrated experience working in product or service design or using design thinking to solve problems).

4+ years experience shipping products, services, or games and/or delivering to customers as a result of an end-to-end design process.

Product Design IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
