Designs and produces art and copy layouts for material to be produced utilizing visual communications by performing the following duties.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesCreative, ability to interpret customer, Sales and Marketing Consultants, Center Owner and marketing requests, turns ideas into tangible products.Able to communicate ideas visually, verbally, and in writing. Strong attention to details.Open to new ideas and influences, criticism, and quick to react to changing trends.Consults with customer or supervisor to evaluate individual project needs.Displays the ability to interpret the customer’s ideas into tangible products.Prepares proofs according to instructions from customer or supervisor.Supports the sales and marking efforts by providing a portfolio of a collection of examples to share with clients.Serves as a support to the team; has a full understanding of all product offerings. Will assist team and customer with their requests while understanding pricing information.Produces jobs in the order determined by the Project Managers. Jobs will be provided through a variety of means such as email, verbally and through chat.Responsible for reviewing orders. Orders that are not accompanied by an invoice or job ticket are put through the business center process as outlined.Reviews pricing. Ensures that design jobs are charged according to either pre-set projects or our established hourly rate.Produces artwork based upon customer's needs and specifications in conjunction with materials they provide or otherwise. Creates in-house artwork as requested or needed by management.Prioritizes, tracks, handles, and maintains records of the elements, costs, and time schedules of multiple projects.Determines size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, selects style and size of type, and creates sample layouts.Prepares cost estimate for project within quality specifications, financial constraints, and time schedule for project.Arranges for customer to review and approve proofs.Organizes files and drawers in Design Services area. Maintains and archives prior day's completed work.Maintains a work-in-progress (WIP) folder on the file server.Adheres to legal requirements related to duplication, printing, software and fonts.Creates finished layout and provides the layout to staff to print.Reviews quality of final product before release to client.Maintains artwork on file.Ability to work independently and under pressure. Self-disciplined, excellent time management skills to meet deadlines and production schedules.Troubleshoots equipment problems. Utilizes Support Services as needed.Assists with training for coworkers and customers regarding digital file acceptance and other software or technical issues. Responsible for working with coworkers to ensure their understanding of the Design Services products and pricing.Responsible for working in conjunction with the sales, customer service and production on simple file output.Maintains an understanding of updated software and hardware programs. Obtains manuals, tutorials and/or regional training as is necessary.Displays proficiency with advanced printing technology, proficient with electronics, computers, internet and social media.Maintains customer (eCommerce) and business center's Web sites.Assists Project Managers as needed.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis job has no supervisory responsibilities.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.Mathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.Reasoning AbilityAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.Computer SkillsTo perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Contact Management systems; Design software; Internet software; Order processing systems; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and 40 WPM+ Word Processing software.Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsCollege degree preferred or 2 - 4 year trade school certificate.Other Skills And AbilitiesTwo years experience in design-for-print; MAC and PC network environments. Experience with Adobe, Acrobat production plug-ins (Enfocus, ArtsPDF and Quite) Distiller, InDesign, Illustrator, PhotoShop, QuarkXPress, Publisher, Word, Excel.Other QualificationsCreativity with the ability to interpret customer, Project Manager and internal marketing requests. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Creative and able to communicate ideas visually, verbally, and in writing. Open to new ideas and influences, criticism, and quick to react to changing trends. Ability to work independently and under pressure. Self-disciplined, excellent time management skills to meet deadlines and production schedules.
