Must use sound judgment on what is good for the hotel when situations occur that need a decision. The position is responsible for obtaining hotel annual, quarterly, and monthly revenue goals.

Work within the primary and secondary markets to identify, prospect, and close sales promptly. Maintain existing clients and develop new sources of business.

WHAT YOU EARN:

The Sales Manager position offers employee discounts with IHG hotels. The Salary is $40,000 per year, plus a gas and phone allowance of $300 per month.

There will be a bonus of 5% of revenue from all new business booked.

WHAT YOU DO:

Perform all aspects of sales calls to book future business, including outside sales, appointments, phone solicitation, on-site tours, trade shows, and e-mails.

Respond to Request for Proposals in a timely manner.

Develop and implement sales blitzes and telemarketing blitzes.

Develop and implement a marketing plan.

Establish the sales budget with the General Manager and other hotel management staff.

Achieve revenue goals.

Compile all sales reports on a weekly, monthly, and as needed basis.

Develop public relations and advertising campaigns.

Book negotiated corporate, extended stay, and group reservations.

Respond to all inquiries via written, email, and phone.

Join and attend all pertinent associations that represent the property in the best possible way.

Maintain budgeted operating, sales, and marketing costs.

Organize budget and travel schedule for trade shows and meetings.

Coordinate ongoing research of the travel industry to detect market trends and develop new marketing strategies.

Develop and promote hotels through frequent communication and participation in business and community relations.

Create and maintain a social media presence.

Organize and/or attend scheduled Sales Department meetings, preparing material for weekly sales agenda.

Participate in any Manager on Duty (MOD) program as assigned.

Perform other tasks or responsibilities as assigned by the General Manager or the Management Company.

Attend IHG Sales Leadership class in Atlanta, GA, and any other required training.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma/G.E.D. A 4-year degree in hospitality or a related field is preferred but not required. 3-5 years of related experience in high volume Hotel Sales, Sales Department Operations, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Continuing education courses in the hospitality industry are a plus. At least two years in a managerial role.
