Barbarian is looking for a Freelance User Experience Designer to create intuitive, meaningful experiences for our clients. Our ideal candidate is someone with a passion for UX who is able to grasp user needs and solve problems.
What You Do:Define target users and problemsResearch competitive products, industry trends and topics.Convert complex problems into simple and elegant solutionsGather, analyze and determine how to respond to feedback from external clients and internal directorsCreate detailed experience maps, user flows, wireframes, prototypes etc. based on briefs from client-facing teamsArticulate intended experience through design artifacts in critiques and presentations.Quickly iterate and offer explorations of potential solutions based on design critique from peers or from learnings found in user testing or feature responseDefend design choices using previous user research, heuristics and usability standardsCommunicate designs and prototypes to developers with a proper handoffPresent design ideas clearly and effectively with the proper rationaleProactively identify opportunities for new executions, efficiencies, and designs
What You Need:2+ years of UX design experienceA strong online portfolio of work demonstrating design processes in creating user-centered design solutionsAmbition to produce the best in class workExcellent verbal and written skills to be able to communicate to both technical and non-technical audiencesExpert in FigmaFamiliarity with Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator and IndesignAptitude to learn new design toolsAbility to communicate with dev teams to understand technical constraints and opportunitiesResponsive design, web design experienceRelentless attention to detail and a sharp eye for designA passion for all things digitalA collaborative, open + honest, curious and human mindsetStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsExperience working in an flexible and fast paced environmentExists on the cutting edge of UX design – and pushes our user research, testing, and design infrastructure and practices.
Location: remoteRate range: $500-$1000/dayThe starting rate will match the skills and experience in the role assessed during the interview process.
