We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Senior Production Designer to join our newly formed, fast paced and agile publishing team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the production process, ensuring that book cover designs and layouts are flawlessly executed and ready for manufacturing. This role demands a high level of attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with both internal and external art directors, designers, authors, and editors.

**This role is hybrid in Naperville, IL with a minimum of 2 office days weekly.

Senior Production Designer Key Responsibilities:Collaboration with Art Directors & Designers: Work closely with art directors and designers to refine and finalize book cover designs, ensuring that they meet both creative and technical standards.File Review & Layout Confirmation: Review design files to confirm they are accurate and align with established templates. Ensure that layouts are consistent across an author's titles and within series.Author Communication & Approvals:Partner with authors to secure final approvals on cover designs and layouts, ensuring their vision is fully realized in the final product.Manufacturing-Ready File Preparation: Translate creative cover treatments into manufacturing-ready file layouts, ensuring that designs can be effectively reproduced in print.Consistency Across Titles & Series: Ensure that design elements and layouts are consistent across multiple titles and series, maintaining brand integrity and visual cohesion.Attention to Detail & File Accuracy: Maintain a rigorous focus on detail and file accuracy, ensuring that all production files meet the highest standards before they are sent to manufacturing.Deadline Management: Adhere to established production schedules, ensuring all projects are completed on time while maintaining quality standards.Directly Supervises Freelance resources as requiredCross-Department Communication:Work collaboratively with authors, editors, and other production team members to resolve any issues and ensure a smooth production process.A willingness to commit to overtime as needed to meet demanding schedules.Directly supervises freelancers as required.Required Skills/Qualifications:

Experience: 5+ years of experience in book production design, with a strong background in working on book covers and interior layouts. Appropriately related experience will also be considered.Technical Proficiency: Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and a strong understanding of print production processes.Detail-Oriented: Exceptional attention to detail and file accuracy, with a proven ability to maintain high standards under tight deadlines.Communication Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with authors, editors, and other stakeholders.Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring all deadlines are met without compromising quality.Creative Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve design issues, ensuring that creative concepts are faithfully translated into final products.Why Sourcebooks?
