DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Originate, develop and review plans for conformance with principles of landscape design.* Make recommendations for improvement of the plans.* Must consider the relationships of buildings, potential occupancy, physical form, shadow problems, movement relationships, and in general, the relationship of all major landscape elements in an area to each other and the site. The sites may include recreation areas, housing developments, industrial areas, or other locations where technical ability of the employee to portray design ideas in a concrete form is desired.* Determine the objectives and functions of projects dealt with and use that knowledge to design pictorial plans to encompass all necessary factors.* May design presentation material, do photographic work, or survey sites* Manage and execute planting of flowers, plants citywide; design and implementation of beautification efforts* Oversee preparation, planting, maintenance, and watering of all city's planting beds through three seasons* Make recommendations and plans for planting new planting areas* Oversee mulching and other operations that enhance plantings* Other related duties as assigned by the Commissioner
QUALIFICATIONS AND ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS.
* Knowledge of natural and man-made elements comprising the total landscape* Creative design talent required* Prior experience designing planting beds and areas required.
