Learn more about the general tasks related to this opportunity below, as well as required skills.Under the direction of the Development Director, the Communications Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and facilitating the agency’s communications, marketing, and public relations strategies to enhance the organization's public presence, increase donor engagement, and support mission-driven initiatives.

Major Responsibilities:

Strategic Communication Planning:

Collaborate with development team on developing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive communication strategies that highlight El Nido’s programs and impact and aligns with the organization's mission and objectives.

Work with the Development team and Board-led Marketing Committee to create and oversee the communications plan, including media outreach, content creation, social media strategy, and public relations activities.

Content Creation and Management:

Write, edit, and manage high-quality content for various channels including website, newsletters, press releases, social media, and marketing materials.

Ensure all communication materials maintain a consistent voice, tone, and branding in line with the organization’s identity.

Digital Strategy and Social Media Management:

Create and manage social media campaigns, monitor trends, and analyze engagement metrics to enhance the organization’s online presence.

Manage website content updates and improvements to ensure it remains current and engaging.

Donor Engagement and Fundraising Support:

Implement communication strategies to engage donors and support fundraising efforts.

Collaborate with development team to create compelling campaigns, donor reports, and fundraising materials.

Internal Communications:

Coordinate with program teams to collect data and success stories that track program outcomes.

Foster effective internal communication to keep staff and volunteers informed and engaged with organizational initiatives and changes.

Media Relations:

Build and maintain relationships with media outlets.

Prepare press releases, media kits, and organize press conferences as needed.

Monitor media coverage and manage responses to media inquiries.

Event Promotion and Management:

Promote and coordinate public-facing events and campaigns to raise awareness and support for the organization’s mission.

Manage event-related communications and liaise with participants, sponsors, and media.

Metrics and Reporting:

Track, analyze, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of communication efforts.

Provide insights and recommendations based on data to improve future communication strategies.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field.

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a communications role, preferably within the non-profit sector.

Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency in social media platforms, content management systems (CMS), and email marketing tools.

Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.

Experience in media relations and a robust network of media contacts is preferred.

Creative thinker with a keen eye for detail and design.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and demonstrate leadership when needed.

Passion for the non-profit sector and a commitment to the mission and values.
