Kwaan Tech is seeking a Senior Graphic Designer to support the Department of State.

Core Duties:

Plan, design, and produce a full range of graphic design products using Adobe Creative Cloud in a Mac environment for a diverse international audience including Heads of State, foreign dignitaries, Foreign Service, civil service, and private and public sector with sensitivity to different cultures and countries including an in-depth understanding of the mission and directives of the Secretary of State.

Meet exacting customer requirements as well as organizational quality and timeliness standards as designated by Global Publishing Solutions; design concepts to clients including color, type, layout, and theme variations with full knowledge of and experience with the established identity standards and requirements of the Department of State.

Work under intense pressure to design and format large publications (books, reports, manuals) in excess of 200 pages using Adobe Creative Cloud Suite for page layout, illustration, and images. These publications often convey high-profile political or policy messages important to the United States.

Knowledge and significant experience in the design of such documents is vital. The incumbents utilize full knowledge of the printing process including paper and ink selection, size requirements, bleeds, crops, folding, etc., and prepare electronic files (preflight) for digital printing as well as four-color process offset printing.

Prepare Department of State conference materials including programs, folders, nametags (using data merge from Excel spreadsheet), table tents, tote bags, pens, banners, posters, and podium signs appropriate to the theme and international audience. Design logos and identity systems specific to U.S. Foreign Affairs Agencies, international conferences, and other department and/or interagency initiatives that convey the intended international theme in a clear, concise, and captivating manner suitable for different media (black and white, 4-color, print, and web).

Conduct online photo/illustration searches to obtain stock photography and use scanners and other digital imaging technologies (Adobe Photoshop) to provide high-quality timely images appropriate for use in small and large-scale publications and electronic media that often cover very sensitive topics.
