Mechanical BIM Designer
Position Overview:Thompson Solutions Group is seeking a Mechanical BIM Designer to join our dynamic team. This role involves coordinating mechanical design and BIM modeling for a variety of construction projects. As a key member of the design team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring efficient, cost-effective project execution.Key Responsibilities:
Develop BIM models of mechanical systems in accordance with established BIM standards and procedures.
Collaborate with project managers to create prefabrication drawings for shop and field use and assist in preparing submittal documents.
Utilize laser scanning technology to create building models, import data into Autodesk Revit, and conduct clash detection and visual walk-throughs with Navisworks and Revit.
Mark plumbing and HVAC system locations using a total station.
Use visualization, graphics, and presentation skills to communicate design concepts effectively.
Provide design support and documentation throughout all project phases, from initial design through project close-out.
Qualifications
Associate's or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
A minimum of two years of experience in mechanical design using Autodesk Production Software (Revit, AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks), Bluebeam, and related tools.
Proficiency in Revit, with the ability to produce comprehensive plan sets for client distribution and a strong ability to visualize construction projects in 3D.
Knowledge of HVAC, hydronic, and plumbing systems and components.
Experience with mechanical prefabrication software such as PractiRev is preferred but not required.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with team members, clients, and other professionals.
Self-motivated, with the ability to solve problems independently and a passion for learning and implementing new technologies to enhance client satisfaction.
Physical ability to walk job sites, stand, sit for extended periods, bend, kneel, and operate office and job site equipment.
A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record, with the ability to travel to meetings and job sites as required.
