Marketing & Talent Excellence Standards

What we are looking for: A dynamic leader with a strong marketing expertise and a subject matter expert on not only the fundamentals of marketing but has a vision for the future of marketing to ensure the worldwide commercial organization represents a best-in-class marketing organization and a vision for developing marketers to reach their full potential. Our workforce is every evolving, markets are more complex: increased competition, regulatory, access challenges and importance of health equity along with a stronger need to engage customers with advances in technology and data require critical shifts to the traditional marketing operating model. The Ex. Director of Marketing & Talent Excellence will need to play a strategic role in developing and implementing on the core marketing principles and standards. S/He will need to be able influence and lead the enterprise-wide marketing organizations and drive the change necessary to ensure BMS marketers develop and grow their careers. The Ex Director will need to continue to develop the bespoke BMS Marketing Quotient framework that reflects the new and changing environment to ensure a companywide consistent approach to drive customer behavior change that helps to enable patients receiving appropriate therapies.

Within BMS, portfolio changes, impending numerous launches, a focus on niche/rare diseases and new disease states provides a critical need for a senior leader with marketing and talent development expertise, to help BMS evolve consistent marketing approaches and practices.

BMS has evolved to a skills-based organization and the Ex Director will be accountable to drive the identification of critical skills for marketers across a variety of marketing roles within the organization. Along with the identification of the skills, resources to support attracting, retaining, and developing marketing talent will be a key focus.

This individual will be accountable for working across markets, as well as across the matrix engaging with the most senior leaders within the company. We are looking for a dynamic, performance-driven leader who cultivates a team-based, collaborative, customer/externally focused environment which promotes candor, innovation and change management.

Who do you work with: The Executive Director reports directly to the Vice President, of Marketing & Launch Excellence. This individual leads collaboratively across and partners with a matrix organization inclusive of WW markets, Marketing, Training, HR, Medical, Access, Analytics and Legal.

Primary Responsibilities:

Build and shape the company wide commercial organization into a best-in-class marketing organization by continuing to expand the Marketing Quotient framework, aligned to Unified Brand Planning; to ensure a companywide consistent approach.

Develop the Talent skills based approach to focus on shaping talent that is evolving with the changing market; establish more structured job profiles, articulate career journeys and help marketers develop and grow within BMS

Develop clear skill set expectations of marketing talent across markets, including skills model, job / role descriptions, and assessments (by level and function and Global to Local)

Create a learning organization that shares best practices and launch learnings are captured and embedded for future brands. Build a curriculum that includes live and on-demand learning programs to ensure all marketers can learn and grow in the organization inclusive of a robust on-boarding program for new marketing hires

Develop a proactive cadenced communication plan that shares the phased development and implementation approach to marketing excellence across the company.

Develop the Governance model that helps to embed marketing rigor and talent assessment.

Design the Change management approach that seamlessly integrates into all marketers' ways of working.

Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities

Qualifications and Experience:

>15 years of healthcare/pharmaceutical/biotech commercial marketing experience with a minimum of 10 years of marketing experience preferably across a various of therapeutic areas within a large market and worldwide

Experience in change management.

Strong ability to work cross the matrix/function inclusive of medical, access etc

Strong ability to interface with senior leadership inclusive of CEO, CCO levels

Demonstrated willingness to push and evolve and organization with creative thinking, capability building.

Deep customers knowledge, the competition, the regulatory landscape, and integrates across research and analytics.

Experience in developing talent and designing training programs.

Strong grasp of business and marketing fundamentals along with a natural curiosity and willingness to take risks to create value for an organization.

Prior experience leading & developing high performing teams.

Demonstrated expertise in building, teaching marketing fundamentals.

Proven track record of effectively and efficiently driving performance across a diverse group of individuals and functions with strong organizational, interpersonal, communication skills and executive collaboration required.
