This role will only consider W2 candidates and not C2C candidates.Job SummaryWe are looking for a Principal UX Designer to build and lead the research function for Henry Schein One. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to craft studies, analyze results, and deliver key insights. You have strong business and product competence, deep customer empathy, a talent for storytelling, and the ability to work well with cross functional partners. You have experience across research, UI, and UX design, with deep expertise in, and passion for, research. You are excited to get your hands dirty, but also seek to mentor, or even directly manage, a team of designers.This is a highly interactive role requiring the skills of a team player who can dig into the details of business requirements with sometimes complex technical constraints. You'll bring knowledge of design best practices, identify research needs in the product roadmap, and actively manage and facilitate communications with stakeholders.We are a fast growing team, which will give you the opportunity to shape our ways of working and our culture.All candidates must present a portfolio of work that includes usability research case studies and demonstrate experience delivering software solutions.What You Will DoCraft a vision and strategy for implementing best-in-class research at HS1Guide and support the team in delivering research insights that are high quality and designed to influence decision making for design, product, and business strategyDevelop internal guidelines and best practices to ensure effective research is conducted from idea generation to design validationSeek to deeply understand customer needs, pain points, and preferences to solve complex problems for our customers through comprehensive customer research and interviewsFacilitate internal workshops and design thinking initiativesMentor designers across the organization on research best practices
Usability Testing & Accessibility AnalysesConduct usability testing to validate hypotheses of iterative design and identify design problemsCollect and analyze KPIs to make informed data-driven recommendations for UX/UI improvements so these findings can be used for product design evolutionWrite detailed study plans including goals, hypothesis, metrics, and study approach.Apply UCD practices to define research criteriaBe accountable for ensuring the quality of usability testsConsolidate test findings into a compelling story to share with stakeholdersHave a passion for refining design solutions based on evidence, UX research methodology and accessibility principlesConduct usability and accessibility tests, share reviews with our Product and Development organizations, and define user research criteria as part of our handoff documentationRun moderated tests using research platforms such as Userzoom / Usertesting
Leadership & CollaborationDefine qualitative research and conduct usability studies, interviews and establish additional insights around accessibilityBe a vocal champion and encourage team members to deliver innovative design solutions that improve engagement and conversion, and build loyalty, across our digital platformsEnsure consistent, cross-functional communication across Product, Development and Creative experience teamsCoach team members in user research methodology and accessibility principles -particularly those less-experienced in research disciplines
Customer ExperienceSupport the HS One vision across the consumer journey with a focus on identifying customer challenges to help improve the user experiencePartner with Development on end-to-end experiences across all customer touch pointsConduct usability tests, heuristic reviews, and competitive research, to improve customer satisfaction and build trust with our customers
QualificationsMust Haves9+ years experience as a product designer, with significant experience leading UX research and usability testing with meaningful business impactProven experience creating, setting, and leading research strategy that aligns with business priorities and drives business outcomesTrack record of translating research into business impactExperience across the entire design process: problem discovery through data and research, solution generation, prototype creation, user testing, and moreCustomer obsessed mindset; you're constantly thinking about how to solve customer pain points and enjoy engaging with users to validate we are building what they need.Ability to facilitate internal workshops and design thinking initiativesSelf-aware with a strong desire to learn and continuously improve both themselves and othersExperience mentoring, or even managing, other designersProficiency with tools such as Figma, Sketch, Invision, and/or Adobe Creative CloudAccessibility certification and experience preferredBonus: You have prior experience in the medical or dental industry
The posted range for this position is
$109,000 - $191,000
which is the expected starting base salary range for an employee who is new to the role to fully proficient in the role. Many factors go into determining employee pay within the posted range including prior experience, current skills, location/labor market, internal equity, etc. This position is eligible for a
12.5% bonus
