Touchstone Living makes homeownership affordable and attainable with our communities being located in prime locations throughout the Las Vegas Valley. We are experiencing tremendous expansion with revenues growing more than 10x over the past three years and expected to approach $200M this year. We own or control nearly 2,000 home sites in the Las Vegas market and are actively seeking new development opportunities within and outside Nevada.

Given our growth plans, we are seeking an experienced Design leader with strong people skills to be our Director of Design. This position provides the foundation for our business plan through the development of land planning and product designs, as well as expertise in home construction. The right candidate will have excellent communication and leadership skills, understanding that supporting employees’ mentoring and development is as important as technical expertise.

This position is design-focused and requires extensive experience, preferably in architecture and construction. The Director of Design will report to Owner/President while interacting regularly with senior leadership, supporting Land Development, Construction, Purchasing, Sales, and Marketing. As such, this individual must be unequivocally highly professional, reserved and organized with keen attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.

JOB DECRIPTION

The right candidate will provide leadership to improve the company’s design process with daily operations while maintaining and improving internal controls and code compliance of new and existing projects. Primary responsibilities include:

· Support the Owner/President in developing site plans and product concepts for prospective projects.

· Create and produce all Zoning packages for submittal for Zoning hearings and approvals.

o Colored Floor plans, exterior elevations, site plan with all proposed setbacks.

· Create and produce all Design Development drawings for all departments to study and assist in their departments needs to execute their responsibilities to the new project.

o Floor plans, exterior elevations, roof plans, utility locations, site setbacks for driveways and landscape, electrical layouts along with GFF and driveway slopes.

· Create and produce Construction Documents along with coordinating with all consultants through value engineering and code analysis to submit for agency approval. Coordination between the following:

o Structural, HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Energy and Soils Engineers

o Colorist for color schemes and color blocking for each exterior elevation

o Truss Engineer

· Coordinate and oversee all agency approval for Standard Plans and Zoning approvals.

· Create and product all Clarifications to help Sales and Marketing team members along with Construction and Purchasing. Items to include:

o Brochures, flooring diagrams, lighting/electrical, flat work and landscape, solar panels layouts, etc.

· Oversee the construction of models, coordinate all frame walk change with Constructions, Purchasing and Consulate. Create all Change Orders to get through models and production while drawings are being updated and re-approved through an agency.

· Continue to support all departments throughout the life of the product, assisting and in explanations and recommendations to resolve and improve the existing Design/Construction processes.

OTHER GENERAL REQUIREMENT

· Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Participation in industry organizations is encouraged.

KEY QUALIFICATION

· 10 years of extensive Design/Construction experience with $100MM+ companies

· Strong preference for candidates with experience in architectural at Manager or Director level roles

· Proven ability to understand, research, and develop recommendations on design and construction issues, being able to then communicate those clearly to affected leaders and employees towards resolving them.

· Strong computer skills with mastery in CAD.

· Architectural Degree or Contractor License a plus

Pay: From $120,000.00 per year
