has a position available for a

Piping Designer

to support our growing Energy Business Line. AECOM offers the freedom and flexibility to work remotely and/or be located at a variety of Energy offices located in multiple locations across the United States.Our team provides a wide range of mechanical engineering services across markets sectors including oil and gas - upstream, midstream and downstream refining, industrial processes (chemical, petrochemical, food and beverage), carbon capture and storage, mining/bulk material handling and future and renewable fuels (such as hydrogen, renewable natural gas, biogas). We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a process piping background and project leadership experience to promote our skills to new clients and maintain our existing client base.The successful candidate will have an understanding and experience in mechanical and piping design and technology principles. She/he will be expected to work successfully within a team environment and be able to communicate effectively with other project team members and customers. He/she will have a high level of initiative, motivation, and displays drive, energy and enthusiasm for getting things done with excellent attention to detail.The responsibilities of this role also include, but may not be limited to, the following:Ability to take general direction and simple sketches from engineers to then develop design criteria and progress through all stages of design - feasibility through construction supportDay to day design and preparation of mechanical and piping deliverables to achieve efficient facility design considering constructability, safety and costEquipment general arrangements, P&ID's, isometrics, asset and tie-in lists, orthographic, etcPrepare bills of materials and quantity take offsEmploy a variety of data sources to build project model environment including but not limited to laser scan, vendor files, existing base surfaces from LiDAR, survey points and contoursDetailed understanding of coordinate systems and the ability to transform data from one system to anotherData management of survey and client data through the project life cycleMeeting with clients for project kickoff, ongoing design review, and project close out and budgetingCreating, updating, and implementing group specific standardsContributes to a complete and integrated set of digital project content which includes but not limited to identification of discipline and vendor interfaces, clashes, etc. by working co-operatively with team members to resolve issuesAssist with preparation of project specification and contract documentsAbility to check and verify work prepared by peer/groupApplies strong knowledge of industry standards, guides, specifications, and procedures specific to working in with US mechanical and industrial infrastructureEnsure that the technical and safety standards are maintained in all aspects of design workQualificationsMinimum Requirements:BA/BS + 4 years of relevant industrial experience or AA/AS + 6 years of relevant industrial experiencePhysical design experience for industrial facilitiesDemonstrated experience in AutoCAD Plant 3DAble to participate in field walks and create field sketches, take dimensions, climb ladders, etc. as necessaryPreferred Qualifications:Adaptability and fervent curiosity in learning new software and applicationsExperience utilizing and integrating data sets into 3D model (e.g. laser scans, LiDAR, etc.)High level design and CAD skills and technical competency in the field of mechanical and/or piping engineeringExperience in CadWorx, Revit, Solidworx, ReCapExperience with Plant 3D project set-up and pipe specification creationExperience working in collaborative model environments (e.g. Navisworks)Experience in the management of Common Data Environments including ProjectWise, BIM 360Experience with field walk downsWorking knowledge of piping specifications and pipe stress analysis2+ yrs experience as project technical piping leadStrong experience leveraging laser scan or other data sets to inform design developmentKnowledge of typical stakeholders and be able to anticipate data requests and expectationsUnderstanding of vendor documentation and its use as a reference for assigned tasksDemonstrated experience in participating in complex, multi-discipline programs/projects and CAD teamsComprehensive knowledge of industry (incl safety) standardsAdditional InformationRelocation assistance is not available for this roleSponsorship is available for this role
