What you will be supporting: DRT is seeking a Technical Writer to support the FDA Office of Digital Transformation (ODT) on a full technical assessment of FDA’s Enterprise Content Services (ECS) and to provide support for the Enterprise Complaints Management System (CMS).

What are we looking for? The Technical Writer will create various artifacts associated with the execution of two projects: 1) a full technical assessment of FDA’s Enterprise Content Services (ECS) and 2) support for the Enterprise Complaints Management System (CMS). Success in this role requires a candidate who can handle a high-degree of flexibility, works well in a fast-paced environment, and thrives on dealing with ambiguity, balancing frequent changes in priority, and managing complex relationships with customers and stakeholders.

Developing, communicating, and adhering to goals for content, workflow, and aim of writingWorking with the team to ensure document accuracyReviewing written technical documents for clarity, grammar, spelling, punctuation, content, and styleMaking any necessary corrections to technical documentsEnsuring that all written content meets FDA and ODT requirementsCreating templates that are easy to apply and adaptConducting quality assurance on program documentsConforming to strict editing guidelines and security clearance protocolsEnsures conformance with work standards and the DRT Quality Management guidanceWork in cross-functional organizations with a focus delivery value and outcomes to our clientDevelop process documentation, streamline and improve business practices, identify efficiencies and support change management effortsFacilitate improved communication across the project team, hunting down information and inputs from the right parties, and establishing collaboration forums

This is you:

A minimum of 3 years of experience as a technical writer/editor and in working with a variety of style guidesIn-depth knowledge of technical conceptsExperience with desktop publishing, multimedia production, and online documentation softwareExperience working independently to ensure timeliness and quality of work, managing client interactions, and reporting process/issuesExperience with technical projectsExperience prioritizing work in a fast-paced environmentExceptional organizational skillsStrong writing skills and/or technical editing skillsSkilled in the use of Microsoft Office suite; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio etc.

Experience as a technical writer and/or editorExperience working within FDA or HHS

Education & Training:

A bachelor's degree in journalism, English, applied science, mathematics, engineering, or another related field or equivalent experienceA Master's degree may be advantageousProject or Agile certification preferred, but not required

Currently due to the remote working status of the federal government, most DRT employees are teleworking from home and leveraging video conferencing along with other virtual productivity tools. Under normal circumstances, most of our positions are required to report onsite. However, DRT has not yet determined when employees will be required to return to their onsite workspaces. Please be aware that at the time a date is determined to return to the worksite, the requirement of this position may be to report in person to the work location.
