Our united system of programs, neighborhood centers, social enterprises, and partnerships connects individuals and their families across the region.POSITION OVERVIEWThe Pillsbury Creative Commons Workforce Training Director will be the primary staff person responsible for designing, launching and building a sustainable framework for PCC programming to support BIPOC/LGBTQ+/Femme-identified young and underemployed people in internships/apprenticeships and ultimately employment in theatre tech/design and media arts trades. This person reports to the Pillsbury Creative Commons Senior Directors and is responsible for connecting PCC programming to PUC/PH+T and the Twin Cities arts ecology. This role has significant cross-agency and community impact.Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions)Strategy and Thought LeadershipProvide subject matter expertise in theatre tech/design/media training and career development.Design PCC programming in collaboration with expert artists, designers, theatre technicians, media artists that prepares trainees for full employment in the industry.Lead strategic innovation in culturally responsive Youth and Creative Workforce Development spaces that positions PCC/PUC as a national leader.Provide PCC/PH+T/PUC and external city/state/regional/national Creative Workforce Development thought leadership.Participate on the PCC/PH+T leadership team and support PCC’s full development, implementation and sustainability.Operations and OutcomesAnalyze data, trends, & needs in Creative Workforce Development.Define measurable goals to document successes and identify areas for improvement/iteration within PCC processes, programs and operations.Create processes and systems to support iterative PCC programming; accountability to stakeholders; maximization of resources and multiple supportive collaborations/partnerships.Assess results, report impact and opportunities for improvement and use principles of creative practice to innovate in real time.People and Community DevelopmentDevelop a network of relationships with partner organizations/performance venues/arts and media organizations/etc. to support the PCC Workforce Development participants and programming – such as job placements for graduates, college certificate/credit opportunities, participant/instructor/mentor recruitment, etc.Hire, train, lead and motivate PCC Workforce training instructors.Create a positive, inclusive, equitable culture among PCC Workforce Development staff, contractors and trainees.Create recruitment strategies that engage targeted participants in PCC programming.Create supportive relationships with organizations and partners to provide wrap-around services for trainees that supports their full participation and long-term success.Financial ManagementMaintain strong partnerships with current PCC funders and build new relationships to support PCC growth.Develop and manage all aspects of the PCC Creative Workforce Development program budgets including income streams, staffing, direct expenses and shop site based expenses.Develop earned income streams through partnerships with area arts organizations and performance venues who ‘job out’ projects to PCC that double as experiential learning/network building for trainees.Support overall PCC resource development efforts including helping write proposals and reports, conducting site visits and funders briefs, and developing shared/borrowed/bartered resources.Required Skills/ExperienceBachelor’s degree in arts or commensurate experience.At least five years of arts management/leadership experience.Able to manage complex systems, relationships, projects.Demonstrated record of innovative, creative program development and implementation.Able to build and maintain a broad network of professional relationships among corporate, nonprofit, government and philanthropic leaders/influencers.Ability to support and interact with a diverse community and meet everyone where they are with cultural responsiveness and respect.Demonstrated facility in working productively and generatively in under resourced neighborhoods with diverse populations.Understanding and active demonstration of appropriate personal boundaries and professional ethics.Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings and weekends.Self-motivating with excellent time management, follow-through and accountability skills.Desired AttributesPassion for what’s possible.Clear sense of personal purpose.Commitment to social justice.Creative problem-solver.Skilled communicator and motivator.BenefitsBenefits are offered to all regular employees who work at least 20 hours a week.
