La Rabida Children’s Hospital is hiring a full-time Communications Specialist for our Fund Development and External Affairs department in Chicago, IL.

Job Summary:
We are a small children’s acute care hospital focused on treating complex medical conditions, chronic illnesses, developmental disabilities, and abuse and trauma.
The Communications Specialist coordinates, develops and oversees internal and external communications; develops and implements a social media plan; supports the Director of Communications and Media Relations and Graphic Arts Specialist.
Essential Communications Specialist Functions:
Serves as primary content developer of monthly newsletter, annual report, and other internal and external communications and guiding the review and production processes.
Leads the hospital social media efforts, sharing news and patient-family and medical staff human interest stories with social media audiences, research which social media outlets are the best match for the hospital’s key messages and audiences.
Creates and implements multifaceted communications strategies to enhance long- and short-term campaigns for fundraising, program promotion, etc.
Supports the Director of Communications and Media Relations by developing stories and leveraging industry contacts.
Assists the Media Arts Specialist in producing quality photography, videography and graphic art.
What we need from you:
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, or communications.
Minimum 3 years of related work experience (healthcare experience preferred).
Strong writing abilities, word processing, desktop and publishing skills.
Excellent interaction skills and ability to forge relationships.
