FIU is a top U.S. research university (R1), with more than $200 million in annual expenditures.Job Summary:The Division of External Programs within the FIU College of Engineering & Computing is seeking a Student Content Specialist to join their team of professionals. This position will work directly with our Sr Project Manager who leads the marketing and communications initiatives within the Division of External Programs.Duties include:Works with DEP managers and leadership to report on and write stories on events relating to the division's graduate, workforce development, distance learning and global programs for CEC News, the college's news portal, and develops copy for email campaigns, collateral, and social media posts as it relates to the division's initiatives.Attends DEP events to develop news content, interviews attendees and collects testimonials to be added to editorial content and/or for future purposes in a content database.Works with DEP team to compile relevant, updated list/database of program alumni, current students, course participants, faculty experts and industry contacts.Develops and maintains the DEP content/assets database.Desired Qualifications:Applicants are to please provide at least three writing samples (can be blog posts, articles, social media, copy on collateral items, etc).Proven ability to write accurate, grammatically correct articles, as demonstrated by writing samples.Ability to meet deadlines ranging from 24 hours (blog posts, shorter stories) to a week (longer stories).Knowledge of social media and ability to write for various social media platforms.Ability to attend College events in person and interview participants.Ability to translate complex, technical concepts into easily understood language.Familiarity with AP style is a plus.Who May Apply:Students enrolled at FIU, who have been awarded Federal Work Study (FWS) as part of their Financial Aid Award package.Student must be enrolled with a minimum of six (6) credit hours in a course of study leading to a degree or a Financial Aid eligible certificate, during Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.Upon credits decreasing, award being canceled, or graduating, FWS employment must end.Work Schedule:Hours based on class schedule and department needs.Advertised Salary:$12.50/HourPre-Employment Requirements:Criminal Background Check: This student appointment may be subjected to a pre-employment background check.How To Apply:Current Employee:
