Washington Monthly Magazine ranks FIU among the top 20 public universities contributing to the public good.Job Summary The Department of Engineering & Computer Science is currently seeking a Junior Web Developer/Webmaster responsible for front-end website management.This position requires a basic programming skill level in web programming languages like PHP, HTML5, and CSS3, and a sense of web design aesthetics, including element arrangements, and the use of design tools like Photoshop. The ideal candidate will have WordPress experience and an understanding of industry trends. Experience with responsive and adaptive design is a plus.Position Duties:Working with end-users to create new WordPress websitesMaintaining existing WordPress websites, including editing content and applying or updating themesDesigning and implementing new features and functionalities with a range of plugins/tools that fit the needs of usersTaking direction from the WebMaster on various projects with strong attention to detail and time management skillsAbility to respond quickly to various requests from users and organize them according to priorityDesired Qualifications

Must have at least 1 Semester remaining before GraduatingGood understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML5 and CSS3Experience building user interfaces for websites and/or web applicationsExperience designing and developing responsive design websites with WordPress CMSComfortable working with debugging tools like Firebug, Chrome inspector, etc.Ability to understand CSS changes and their ramifications to ensure consistent style across platforms and browsersWho May Apply
