We are seeking a UX Content Designer with expertise in content management system design, content structure, content modeling, content inventorying/auditing, information architecture, taxonomy, technical writing, and content management system user training.

Make sure to apply with all the requested information, as laid out in the job overview below.In this role, the UX Content Designer brings a deep knowledge of UX and content principles, practices, user research, and can collaborate effectively with stakeholders, designers, product managers, delivery managers, and software engineers to deliver working software products. You will be empowered to make informed recommendations to improve both the frontend and backend user experience of an important federal site.

This position is fully remote (work from home) and requires a federal background investigation.

Responsibilities

Inventory, analyze, and audit existing content, content types, and information architecture

Analyze and conduct discovery for landing pages, global navigation, taxonomies, and more to create strategic recommendations for a redesign

Restructure and remap site information architecture

Analyze and implement improvements to site and content governance, such as roles and permissions, editorial workflows, content types, and templates, as needed

Make improvements to the user experience of various software systems, in addition to the frontend user experience

Create training documentation and train content management system users

Collaborate with product management, engineering, other designers, and federal subject matter experts

Plan and facilitate user research as needed

Make complex information and language simple and accessible for non-technical audiences.

Communicate effectively across organizational and technical boundaries, understanding the context

Communicate content decisions and what business or user needs they are solving verbally or visually

Advocate for human-centered design best practices in an agile and iterative environment

Required Skills & Experience

Experience conducting content audits, information architecture analysis, etc., and providing and implementing strategic recommendations, identifying gaps, creating new mappings

Experience conducting discovery to inform frontend redesigns

Direct experience working with and/or designing for content management systems

Enthusiasm for working closely with other designers/content strategists and for collaborating with other members of the product team

Demonstrated success building strong client relationships

Fluency in a broad range of human-centered design and content strategy methods

You can communicate and present design decisions and the problems they address

Confidence in leading research and discovery activities (interviews, observation, analysis, workshops, synthesis, etc.) as needed

Required Qualifications

At least five (5) years of experience working as UX designer and/or content strategist in collaboration with digital product teams

Bachelors degree OR 9 years of experience working as UX designer and/or content strategist in collaboration with digital product teams

Experience with WCAG/Section 508 Accessibility standards

A portfolio illustrating your process, design deliverables, and outcomes

Preferred Qualifications

Working in or with federal government

Experience working with large content repositories

Content management system user documentation and training facilitation

Familiar with or able to quickly learn a variety of software or tools

Familiarity with Drupal

Salary Range$105,000 - $115,000
