The Communications Marketing Specialist furthers LASP's science mission by providing professional communication and marketing support for the planning, development, and coordination of internal and external marketing activities and communications projects, programs, and outreach events of key significance for advancing of LASP's strategic goals and objectives.

Who We Are

LASP is a world-renowned space science research institute at the University of Colorado Boulder. LASP is one of the top space science research institutes in the country employing approximately 500 scientists, engineers, support personnel, and students. The University of Colorado receives more NASA funding than any public university in the country, due in large part to LASP programs. Professional engineers work closely with scientists and assembly technicians in designing and building space flight hardware while helping mentor students as entry-level engineers working on these programs. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Marketing

Design and edit external communication products, including marketing materials, newsletters, fact sheets, and event promotions

Create promotional materials, including stickers, pins, and posters, to showcase the lab and its accomplishments

Liaise with vendors and LASP's procurement department to order marketing materials

Help coordinate logistics for special events, meetings, and photo shoots

Collaborate with institute and university teams to ensure consistency in LASP branding

Provide direct support to the OCM team to facilitate business and technical operations

Strategic communications

Help prepare reports and presentations

Assist with the curation of visual assets

Track media mentions and help interpret those insights to guide messaging

Additional responsibilities

Provide professional assistance and support to the Head of Communications Management in the planning, design, development, and management of strategic, and at times sensitive, communication projects and initiatives

Assist with departmental administrative tasks as requested

What You Should Know

Due to US Export Control restrictions, only US Citizens and Permanent Residents may apply.

This is a part-time, hourly, retiree position, limited to 220 hours for FY25.

Hourly rate is $38.26 per hour.

What We Require

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

5+ years of experience supporting senior-level administration, business, and/or management.

What You Will Need

Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), Adobe Creative Suite, Zoom, and Confluence.

Excellent written and verbal business communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to handle complex, multiple, and concurrent tasks often under tight deadlines.

Excellent organizational skills.

Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas.
