Technical Writer/Event Planner

They are responsible for creating and coordinating written content for publications, journals, SharePoint sites, and briefings. They collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders to develop event agendas, presentation materials, and promotional materials. They ensure that the content is accurate, engaging, and aligned with the client's objectives. The Technical Writer/Event Planner also assists in conference, seminar, and workshop logistical planning, such as conference approval coordination, venue selection, scheduling, branding, printing requirements, and coordinating speakers. They possess strong writing and organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for

Technical Writer/Event Planner : $73,000 to $80,000. Pay commensurate with experience.Full-time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

Technical Writer/Event Planner Responsibilities Include:

Revises or writes standardized material for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, pamphlets (bi & tri-folds), catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications concerned with work methods and procedures, ongoing & completed AF installation projects, and new initiatives.Receives technical direction from supervisor or AF client, ability to follow instructions with limited oversight while maintaining detailed status on open taskings.Organizes material and completes writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology, maintains records and files of work and revisions, selects photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material, assists in laying out material for publication, arranges for typing, duplication, and distribution of material.May assist in writing speeches, articles, and public or employee relations releases, and may specialize in writing material regarding work methods and procedures.Primary point of contact for planning and hosting large scale events including topic development, branding, competitive venue selection, hotel & virtual platform logistics, managing volunteers, and cost reporting.Hosts quarterly, monthly, and weekly Event Planning Meetings with Government Senior leaders prepared to provide status on open actions, assign new actions, and troubleshoot obstacles.Performs other job-related duties as required.

Technical Writer/Event Planner Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Finance, Business or related field and 10 years of conference event planning.Working knowledge of writing agency communication initiatives, to include organizational newsletters, articles, blogs, and announcements using eye-catching creativity.Ability to plan & execute large (300+) professional level conference events (combined in-person & virtual platforms), a must.Knowledge planning AF Conference Events and protocol for submission of DoD Conference Approval Packages, desired.Develop training programs for personnel in project management.Knowledge of AF Design & Construction Program, desired.Must be a strategic thinker with ability to overcome obstacles, think outside the box, and come to client with solutions.Ability to devise scheduling plan, allowing for incremental product reviews prior to final delivery.Must be able to communicate in a sound, logical, and efficient manner with government senior officials.Must be able to multitask.Ability to coordinate access to facilities, set up briefings, data gather, and conduct interviews in preparation of technical writing.Utilizing and applying computer software including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and audio-visual setups, including Adobe Connect, for video teleconferences.Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.Must be a US Citizen and able to pass a National Agency Check Investigations (NACI)/SF85 background check.
