Weedmaps is seeking a highly motivated, innovative, and results-driven Director of Social Media & Community Marketing. In this role, you will lead a team of dedicated experts with shared goals of serving our customers, driving business growth, and creating vibrant online communities through expertise, compelling content, and spirited engagement. We are seeking a leader to drive growth and engagement of our social strategy and build our creator ecosystem. Your strategic vision, leadership skills, and passion for authentic social content will help foster a dynamic and inclusive environment that resonates with both legacy and new-generation cannabis enthusiasts.

The impact you'll make:

Develop and implement a comprehensive social marketing strategy that aligns with the company's overall business objectives.

Create platform positionings to grow Weedmaps’ relationships with the cannabis community, and keep a strong pulse on the social media landscape across cannabis, social, cultural trends to identify new opportunities to reach and engage with target audiences.

Manage a social calendar and partner with the content creation team to conceptualize and create compelling and shareable content for various channels, ensuring alignment with brand values, voice, tone and messaging.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product, and sales, to ensure content is consistent and relevant.

Monitor and analyze the performance of content and social media campaigns, and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.

Knowledge of SEO best practices and the ability to optimize content for search engines.

Build and manage a strong online community through social media engagement and community management.

Utilize gathered insights to make regular recommendations on strategic shifts in content production and planning.

Manage a team of content and social media managers, providing mentorship, guidance, and support as needed.

What you've accomplished:

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.

10+ years of experience in social media management and community building, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

Deep understanding of the cannabis industry and the unique challenges and opportunities it presents.

Cannabis product knowledge: the ability to speak to common cannabis topics (strains, cannabinoid, terpenes, etc.).

Strong writing and editing skills, with a proven ability to produce high-quality content across a variety of formats.

Experience using social media management tools such as Hootsuite, Sprout Social, and Buffer.

Excellent project management skills and the ability to lead cross-functional teams to successful outcomes.

Strong analytical skills and the ability to use data to inform decisions.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Passion for the cannabis industry and a commitment to producing content that is both engaging and educational.

Critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making.

Bonus Points:

Cannabis industry knowledge (not necessarily experience working in the industry).

Gaming industry experience.

Youth marketing experience.
