Job Purpose & Overview

Lument is seeking an experienced content strategist and corporate communications specialist who would embrace the opportunity to lead a high-performing content and communications function to accelerate the company's trajectory as a top-tier commercial real estate financing firm.

Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer, the senior director will be responsible for leading a content and corporate communications team and collaborating with internal partners and stakeholders to manage the development and execution of best-in-class programs. The Senior Director will also lead the expansion of Lument's growing research capabilities as well as partner closely with the Senior Director of Marketing to support the company's marketing activities and goals.

The ideal candidate is a customer-focused B2B content and communications expert, an exceptional storyteller, editor, writer, and manager with experience developing short- and long-form content across multiple platforms and formats. He/she will have demonstrated success in developing and executing compelling content and communication strategies that enhance brand positioning and reach and influence key target audiences. Familiarity with the commercial real estate industry and finance is essential.

Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute a compelling content and corporate communications strategy and plan including public relations, internal and executive communications strategy and plan along with a market research, plan, consulting with the Senior Director, Brand and Marketing as appropriate, to strategically deploy high-quality and influential content across multiple owned and earned channels.

Lead the expansion and management of Lument's CRE market research function. Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders, researchers, writers, and industry partners to develop high-quality market research reports and commentary including national, regional, and MSA-level materials. Ensure research strategy and investments support the goals of priority business lines including Lument's growing Real Estate Investment Sales business. Maintain a central repository for industry and company research sources, reports, and key company statistics; collaborate with marketing to ensure that website and sales collateral are regularly updated and current.

Develop and manage Lument's external communications strategy and plan including media and public relations as well as executive client correspondence and crisis communications.

Create and cultivate positive relationships with industry partners and journalists. Identify and pitch relevant editorial opportunities and speaking engagements for senior executives and establish executive management team as recognized industry leaders. Develop talking points, write letters and articles for senior management. Working with marketing, manage the development of content for conferences and client events including identifying and booking expert speakers, organizing and prepping panel participants including executives, producers, clients and industry partners; and post-event, repurposing that content for use in other channels (e.g. in Insights, earned media).

Develop content and editorial tracking and reporting practices to ensure high-quality content and timeliness of deliverables. Regularly monitor earned media performance, track results to business objectives, and use analytics to shape and evolve strategies. Regularly assess the effectiveness of corporate communications strategy.

Develop positive relationships with key stakeholders across the organization to tap their expertise and ensure their engagement and participation.

Manage, motivate, and mentor a diverse team of internal and freelance editorial and communications professionals and collaborate with the marketing team to develop high-quality content with a particular focus on thought leadership, in a mix of formats including long- and short-form articles, white papers, press releases, op-eds, videos, client spotlights and case studies, sales collateral, research reports, and infographics. Ensure consistency of messaging and quality of editorial content. Provide clear direction while defining and nurturing a collaborative and client-oriented team culture.

Generate new content ideas and core editorial topics by following market and industry trends; evaluating competitive intelligence; monitoring industry publications' content and editorial calendars and conference agendas; obtaining insights from internal subject-matter-experts and customers.

Oversee the execution of Lument's internal communications strategy to help ensure a positive corporate culture of engaged and informed employees. Manage the development and execution of messaging, talking points, internal memorandums, internal videos, all-hands agendas as well as executive communications. Additionally, oversee key communication programs including Lument's associate profiles series, employee awards, and executive and producer bios. Help coordinate crisis communication responses as needed.

Prepare and conduct quarterly presentations for the Leadership Team to communicate content and corporate communications strategies and related progress toward marketing and communications plan goals.

Ensure all internal and external editorial and content deliverables adhere to the established style guides that specify the writing style and tone needed to create engaging content.

Establish and monitor an annual communications operating budget and deliver against relevant budget parameters.

Contacts

This position has frequent contact with all levels of employees and management. In addition, this role may interact with outside business partners, vendors, consultants, and other office visitors.

Education, Skills & Experience

Hold a bachelor's degree with a concentration in communications, English, journalism, public relations, or marketing preferred.

Have a minimum of 15 years' experience leading multichannel B2B content creation and editorial in commercial real estate finance and professional services.

Have extensive experience with media relations, research, executive and internal communications, and the management of a high volume of quality, diverse editorial deliverables.

Have strong knowledge about the multifamily market and overall market dynamics and drivers.

Be an effective self-starter and problem solver who is resourceful, results-oriented, articulate, creative, and possesses excellent verbal and written communications skills.

Have a proven history of creating compelling written messages that deliver against communication objectives for specific target audiences (writing samples will be requested).

Possess strong interpersonal, networking, influencing, and negotiating skills.

Exhibit the ability to think strategically through to execution. Demonstrate capacity as a leader and team player, persuasive yet diplomatic, with an ability to communicate high-level concepts in a digestible manner.

Be highly organized, detail oriented, analytical and able to effectively manage and prioritize a large volume of projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adhere to tight deadlines.

Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SmartSheet tools.

Be well-versed in Apple, Android, PC, and Mac products. Experience in Adobe, WordPress, Email platforms, and SharePoint as well as basic knowledge of SEO and keyword research tools a plus.

Flexibility and ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines and constant interruptions. Ability to adjust priorities in a changing environment.

Annual base salary gross: $190,000 - $240,000 (NY only). The base salary range represents the estimated low and high end of the Lument's salary for this position. Actual base salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and proficiency for the role. The base pay is one component of Lument's total compensation package for employees.
