Job Description

This position is a hands-on sales role for The Olive Ann Hotel in the Greater Grand Forks region. The Director of Sales & Marketing will work with assigned clients from initial inquiry through event execution, providing event coordination and hospitality. This position communicates policies, procedures, pricing, and contract specifications to clients for hotel rooms and catered functions, relays event information to appropriate interdepartmental personnel, and provides tours to prospective clients. This position reports to the General Manager. The hours expected in this position will vary by business needs and team scheduling with a minimum of 40 hours per week.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Implement and execute a strategic sales plan.Develop sales goals and strategies for the sales team.Manage the CRM software.Capture the competitors' accounts through networking and research to target and solicit those most probable to generate new business.Promptly follow up on all customer needs and inquiries in an efficient and professional manner.Conduct research, surveys, personal investigation, and studies of marketplaces and territories to capitalize on The Olive Ann's strengths and capabilities.Controls expenses, including travel on the properties on behalf to minimize hotel costs.Display a neat, clean, and business-like appearance at all times.Work closely with the Greater Grand Forks Chamber of Commerce.Curate and maintain relationships with key individuals within the region.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

A bachelor’s degree is required.5 years of experience in catering/hotel sales, hospitality, marketing experience, and/or training.Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills that are guest and service- focused.Strong competency in Microsoft Office software and accurate data entry, proficient computer skills necessary to communicate with others, prepare and provide event proposals and orders, prepare, and analyze financial reports, and assist in overall organizational management.Ability to manage an extensive amount of information from multiple managers.Experience and ability to sell and manage control room sales and room blocks.Strong organizational skills and diligent attention to detailsKnowledge of the hospitality industry is helpful.Experience managing CRM.Ability to work proactively and independently.Ability to make independent decisions regarding planning, organizing, and scheduling work for self.Aware of general civic and business community affairs to recognize business opportunities.
