The Tetra Tech Cocoa, Florida office is seeking professional and motivated candidates to fill a Mid- Environmental Scientist/Geologist with a minimum of 4 years of experience writing and preparing technical documents associated with environmental remediation projects at hazardous waste sites. This position primarily serves as the lead technical author and will support work under federal / state regulatory authorities for both our government and our commercial clients across the United States. The successful candidate will have a unique set of technical, communication, organizational and leadership skills and will deliver high quality technical documents by serving as lead author and/or coordinating with other team members. Your Role:

Responsibilities: The Mid-Level Environmental Scientist or Geologist will play a key role in serving as the lead author and coordinator for preparing environmental reports in support of a variety of projects throughout the Southeast region and broader United States. Primary responsibilities of the position include:

* Prepare environmental reports (formal technical documents and interim PowerPoint updates) for client and regulatory review, including data interpretation, tabulation and mapping of analytical results, evaluating and establishing patterns and trends exhibited by such data and determining compliance with regulatory requirements.* In coordination with the Project Manager (PM), interpret project environmental reporting needs based on regulatory structure and requirements, develop required activities for environmental reporting development, set milestone schedules, track progress, deliver updates and work with the PM to resolve blockers.* Environmental reporting includes projects in various phases including environmental assessments, site investigations, remedial investigations, risk assessments, feasibility studies, remedial designs, remedial construction, remedial operations and maintenance, and site close out. Project work is completed under CERCLA or RCRA federal regulations, along with appropriate state regulations.* Coordinate with the PM, technical and administrative staff in support of environmental reporting preparation.* Additionally, field work may be required. The physical demands of this position require the ability to lift and maneuver equipment and filled sample coolers, in a range of weather conditions.* Typical field tasks will include field work planning and preparation, drilling and monitoring well installation oversight, logging soil boreholes, remedial system implementation (e.g. subsurface injections) and operation and maintenance, and report preparation including text, tables and figures. Field work will also consist of the collection and proper documentation of soil and groundwater samples to define the nature and extent of soil and groundwater contamination.* Other duties may be assigned.

* Strong technical analytical skills and demonstrated excellent technical writing and verbal communications skills are fundamental to this position and are required.* Must be highly motivated, customer-focused and work well in a team environment.* Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills are highly desired.* Prior experience preparing technical documents following CERCLA and RCRA federal regulations is required.* Knowledge of CERCLA and RCRA federal regulations and demonstrated ability to follow appropriate state regulations is required.* In-depth knowledge of requirements for technical reporting and documentation.* Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.* Current and valid U.S. driver's license.

This position requires the candidate to be a U.S. Citizen due to the projects they will be working on.

Education & Experience: The candidate must have the following education and experience:

* BS degree in geology, engineering, science or a related technical field is required. Advanced degree is preferred.* Professional registration, i.e., Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) is a plus.* 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER training and current 8-hour refresher training is a plus.* Minimum 4 years of experience with increasing responsibility in the environmental restoration consulting market (advanced degree(s) may substitute for 1-3 years of experience), including a strong background in environmental site characterization and remediation.* Experience with assessment and cleanup governed by CERCLA and RCRA on Federal projects is required.* Prior experience with DoD and/or NASA projects is highly desired.* Proven ability to lead preparation of complex technical documents.

Most work is anticipated to be office-based, however some travel (primarily by car, but may include air travel) will be required for field work or client meetings at client sites - anticipated to be approximately 10 to 20 percent of the time. Remote work may be considered depending on location of candidate proximal to hiring offices.

Language & Communication Skills: Effective oral and written communication skills are essential for this position. Candidate must be fluent in the English language, both in speaking and writing. Candidate will be responsible for report and proposal writing as well as verbal presentations for project summaries and technical status.

Mathematical Skills: The candidate must possess mathematical skills commensurate with having earned a BS degree in science, engineering or a related technical field.

Other Skills: Candidate must have the ability to work well in a professional and team-oriented environment, as well as independently. Candidate should possess strong organizational and leadership skills and be client focused. Must possess basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.) and Adobe Reader. Familiarity with Microsoft Project is desirable but not required. Knowledge/experience in computer-based, geosciences-related, graphics software, data evaluation software, electronic field data collection, and/or groundwater flow/contaminant transport modeling is desirable.
