A Brief Overview

The newly created position of E-mail Marketing Manager will lead the definition, strategy and execution of Stanford Health Care (SHC) email marketing programs in collaboration with key stakeholders and marketing colleagues. This critical role has vendor management and oversight responsibilities and has accountability for driving the strategic utilization of email and marketing automation platforms based on goals from the overall organization. This email marketing professional will be responsible for email campaign management, event support, and email contact management, including lead capture, contact preference management, segmentation, and targeting. This role engages with key organizational stakeholders and leverages data to improve delivery of the right message to the right audience at the right time. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Marketo and experience leading both B2C and B2B marketing in a health care system or academic medical center, having engaged prospective patients, existing patients and providers with the right message at the right time through the right channel.

What you will do

Increases email send volume and related interactions through stakeholder engagement, list building, journey mapping and establishing triggers based on segmentation and available engagement signals.

Supports strategies and campaigns to communicate with prospective patients, referring physicians and other audiences, as defined, that help them to choose and drive preference for Stanford Health Care physicians and/or clinics.

Establishes and evolves marketing email programs by leveraging data, creating product roadmaps and working with stakeholders on project briefs.

Builds and maintains strong client relationships with key stakeholders and departments throughout the organization, acting as the primary point of contact for email marketing initiatives.

Builds strong relationships with clinic operational leaders and partner departments, such as Market Development & Outreach, Patient Experience, and Communications, in service of better understanding and supporting service line and department needs.

Regularly provides and presents updates to key internal and external stakeholders regarding marketing activities, metrics and outcomes.

Collaborates with IT colleagues from Technology & Digital Solutions, internal stakeholders and vendor partners to evolve email templates, journeys and platform feature utilization.

Consults on portfolio management strategy for proposed programs or improvement initiatives including goals, specific actions, timelines, metrics and measures for on-going tracking, investment requirement, and performance over time.

Extracts relevant data as needed from various systems and other sources for business planning and analysis including historical email send volume and engagement performance, as well as projections of future expected volumes and engagement.

Education Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a work-related field/discipline from an accredited college or university.

Experience Qualifications

• Five (5) plus years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.• Three (3) plus years of email marketing campaign management, preferably using Marketo.• Health care system or academic medical center experience preferred.• Proven experience in managing multi-step campaigns, such as drip campaigns or other triggered communications based on user interactions, time-based triggers or other signals.• Experience managing employees or external vendor teams, especially in highly matrixed organizations.• Experience in an environment which encompasses managing both large and lengthy projects to fast short-order work is essential.• Experience leading email marketing strategy and designing templates, campaigns and journeys.• Experience analyzing and user behavior and using it to segment contacts and target via email and other marketing channels.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Deep knowledge of email strategy and marketing automation for both B2C and B2B audiences.

Able to define feature strategy and product roadmaps aligned with marketing objectives.

Broad understanding of integrated marketing, content creation and distribution.

Ability to understand and contribute to broader marketing strategies, initiatives and campaigns.

Strong product and program management skills to coordinate among IT teams, content managers, writers and external vendor teams supporting marketing automation and email.

Ability to prioritize many competing initiatives and drive multiple projects simultaneously.

Thoughtful and strategic approach to problem solving skilled in analytical thinking.

Ability to build consensus and work effectively within a cross-departmental team.

Strong interpersonal skills, able to motivate and drive collaboration with other departments and stakeholders without direct authority over those groups.

Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to develop high level senior executive presentations.

Helpful to have knowledge of the agile and SCRUM methodologies

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $51.15 - $67.78 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
