Foreign Policy is looking for a copy editor to work on a full-time temporary basis from September 2024 to January 2025. This person will copy-edit and fact-check articles ranging from 800-word news briefs to 6,000-word long-form articles, at a pace of about 1,000 words per hour. The ideal candidate will be meticulous and internationally aware. This position will be remote with flexible hours.

Want to apply Read all the information about this position below, then hit the apply button.We are seeking candidates who:Have at least two years of professional copy-editing experience, particularly with articles about foreign policy and international news.Have knowledge and mastery of AP style.Are passionate about detail and getting things right.Are aware of world events.Can maintain composure in a boisterous, fast-paced newsroom.Can edit at a fast pace (or triage edit) when it comes to time-sensitive articles.Have familiarity with WordPress or the ability to learn it quickly when provided basic instruction.Can make judgments among competing English transliterations of foreign words.Have good judgment to know when to adhere to house style and when to allow writers artistic license.Are considerate and collaborative when interacting with authors and editors.Fact-checking experience is preferred.Foreign language skills are a plus.Are eligible to work in the U.S. without a sponsor.

The compensation for this temporary role is $30.00-$40.00 per hour.
