Position Summary

Join UCLA’s Teaching and Learning Center as Manager of Communications! Are you a strategic communicator with a passion for storytelling? UCLA's Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) is seeking a dynamic Manager of Communications to help shape and elevate our internal and external messaging.Reporting to the Director of Communications & Creative Services, the Manager of Communications will help establish strategies for how the TLC communicates internally and externally, and then bring those strategies to life through the development of newsletters, letters, presentations, campus messages, video scripts, web copy, news stories, event promotional materials, and social media posts. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional organizational skills, be highly detail-oriented and capable of providing thorough copyediting and fact-checking to a wide variety of written materials for the TLC.The Manager of Communications will play a central coordinating role within the TLC communications team, managing communications requests, tracking the status of team projects, and helping copy edit and finalize materials. The incumbent will lead the digital strategy for the TLC, updating the website, developing goals for the social media presence and managing regular posting, and expanding the TLC's footprint online. The Manager of Communications will also be responsible for collaborating with colleagues in various TLC units to find and develop stories that demonstrate the TLC's influence and impact on elevating teaching at UCLA.Reporting to the Director of Communications & Creative Services, the Communications Manager works independently to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and create solutions to meet project goals as assigned. Salary & Compensation

*UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications

3-6 yrs of experience Minimum of three years of strategic communications experience in higher education, political leadership, or corporations, or equivalent experience. (Required)Higher Education Preferred experience working in higher education. (Preferred)Strong interpersonal and communications skills, including ability to work with a wide range of individuals and departments in a complex organization in order to gather necessary input from others, determine priorities, and keep key leadership informed about relevant areas of communications strategy in a timely and effective manner. (Required)Demonstrated ability to use communications strategies to move public opinion, encourage stakeholder involvement and support, increase donor support, and establish brand preference. (Required)Demonstrated experience in ensuring that communications align with strategic branding efforts. (Required)Demonstrated excellent writing skills for composition in style and manner of senior campus officials. (Required)Demonstrated ability to edit documents and publications for style, accuracy, format, and punctuation. (Required)A strong strategic orientation, commitment to excellence, and attention to detail. Ability to handle all information with sensitivity, discretion and solid judgment. (Required)Demonstrated experience writing communications that meet and exceed expectations within a deadline. (Required)Basic knowledge of public relations practices and procedures, and operations of traditional and social media. (Required)Background in complex, global environment and industries. (Preferred)Basic understanding of digital marketing tools, including graphic design tools, WordPress or other web editing software, and email marketing platforms. (Preferred)Effective communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills when engaging with diverse campus stakeholders. (Required)Ability to work on campus with the potential for a hybrid schedule. The expectation is 3 days working on-campus. (Required)
