What You Will Do to Change Lives As the Communications/Grant Writer, you will be responsible for handling all aspects of grant writing, review, submission, and implementation in addition to other external communications and special event support. Manages the grant process and reporting for timely review and submission. Follows grant process through implementation, statistics, and stories required for reports. Assists with grants for local foundations and is knowledgeable of local grant processes. Assists with government grants including city, state, and federal grants. Maintain positive relationships with fund providers and other stakeholders. Maintains database for funder/donor information. Assists in the planning and logistics of large fundraising events to ensure a high level of donor experience and engagement. Drafts other external communications such as donor newsletters, press releases, event programs. This job is office-based but may require up to 10% travel. Qualifications What You Will Bring: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively write proposals that are persuasive, clear, and concise. Strong research skills to identify potential grant opportunities and understand the requirements of each grant. Strong creative writing skills with the ability to tell compelling stories. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Must be self-motivated, able to prioritize work, and adapt to competing demands. Good judgment, and solid interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with others. Strong planning and time management skills. Education & Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, English, Journalism or related degree, or an equivalent combination of education and proven work experience. Internships, part-time, and volunteer experience may be considered as years of experience. 2 years of non-profit experience required with a focus on grants, government grants, communications, or other roles with an emphasis on writing. Proven experience with local foundation and government grants. Advanced user of all MS Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher. Advanced in using donor management software (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser's Edge, Blackbaud, or similar database). Project Management experience and previous non-profit experience are a plus.
